What jenna does
I am a transformation agent using compassion, creativity and clear boundaries. I work with people to identify historical patterns that affect their current behavior and thoughts. We all come from somewhere and chances are what came before in your life is influencing what's happening now. Is it working? Let's explore. I help people identify their role in their situations and relationships, so they have more power and choice. You can wait til the cows come home to try and get your mom, boyfriend, wife or co-worker to change, or you can work on changing what you can; you, your self-awareness, your boundaries, your desires. I help folks take charge of their own happiness. Why not?
I work with people to achieve radical healing. Folks who work with me make changes and enjoy life more.
My style is a directive, creative, collaborative and humorous. I also incorporate the body and intuition, creativity and play. We may use props, art making or other materials to find the nugget that will be most helpful. I also use EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, to facilitate healing and change and break through places where you are stuck while releasing trauma. Clients often find my bold, direct and humorous style refreshing and trustworthy. It's therapy that works!
What jenna does best
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a powerful tool that utilizes cutting edge research on how the brain stores and releases traumatic memories so that you can experience deep healing and let go of painful thoughts, feelings, dreams, and memories.
I also use feelings and somatic data to inform us of the next step. Our bodies receive information long before our conscious minds do. Clients become best friends with their heart and gut to make decisions, express themselves and find the best way to heal and grow.
I really get people. Often clients tell me, "How did you know that?!" Clients report feeling heard and understood. They report that what we are doing in therapy is helpful and they can see the difference in their emotions and overall health.
What does jenna need?
People who work with me can expect to do deep healing with their families, partners and themselves.
Clients can expect me to playfully call them on their stuff and hold them with warmth and humor while doing so. My clients become experts on sifting through their own rackets and begin to make clear choices about the kind of relationships and people they want in their lives. They get really good at noticing themselves moving towards more drama and chaos and making a different choice with integrity and ease. Clients brag about how they learned to say "no" to someone or something that used to have power over them. They report feeling more grounded as they learn how to deeply care for themselves in a way they have not done before. They are energized and excited about the next step in their healing and growing self-awareness and self-love.

Experience
I've been able to witness changes in my clients' lives and relationships. I love seeing people realize they have more choices in their lives. Many clients tell me after reviewing previous homework and accountability exercises we have done that they are amazed by how different their lives are now. I love this work!
I have been involved in mental health counseling for the past seven years. My recent experience at Seattle Counseling Services for Sexual Minorities was a wonderful opportunity to continue working with the queer community, with an emphasis on transgender related issues.
I have worked with a variety of people, including restaurant owners, writers, massage therapists, business consultants, the queer and transgendered community, political activists, artists and students.
