What Jennifer does
I help expose the beauty in my clients, sculpting hair to fit each of their personalities and lifestyles. I listen. I share. I believe every person I meet contributes to my life and I truly appreciate each and every one of my clients for those contributions. I try to return the favor as often as possible.
A personalized approach to hair that goes beyond the chair...
What Jennifer does best
I listen. I care about my clients as individual people and therefore am great at giving them a look that suits their lifestyles and personalities.
What does Jennifer need?
I always need referrals, and new clients of course. I also need the support of other small business owners who understand the struggles of entrepreneurship and can support me keeping my head up during those challenges we all face in this competitive market we live in. Mostly, I just need to meet more Seattle folks who are grounded, fun and who take life by the horns.
Education
I finished my business degree some time ago and of course am cosmetology licensed for the state of Washington. I plan to get reciprocity in several other states soon and eventually obtain my international cosmetology certification. I am constantly taking new courses on cutting and color techniques and I stay abreast of the latest trends in hair and fashion.
Experience
I spent 10 years in "corporate life", doing everything from commercial real estate to high level strategic planning and process development at a major game division owned by Hasbro. In those years I was able to gain very diverse experience, which supported me infinitely towards building my own destiny.
I started several small businesses on the side during those years (always feeling the need to have something of my own), most notably, and still in operation, Brown-Eyed Girls Press (www.browneyedgirlspress.com), a custom stationery company I built with two partners about four years ago. We target the high end wedding and events market primarily, and all of our work to date has been totally customized to each client's needs. My partners and I are taking a small hiatus from marketing the business while we re-strategize how to effectively hit our target audience. We work only on referrals for the time being, rather than doing any mass advertising.
Hair is my newest career endeavor, but one I've been passionate about for as far back as I can remember. I have loved every aspect of running my own salon business, and I think I have a lot of great knowledge to share with other service professionals starting their own show. Really though, the best part about my work is the simple joy I get from making people look and feel their best. No strategic plans, improved share prices, job promotions, or profit sharing can ever compete with that.
