My name is Jessica Davis and I am a journalist, documentarian, and producer. Recently, as a Community Relations Specialist at SCAN, I provided a voice for SCAN through its newsletter, networked with members of the community and helped produce a series of community programs for the channel, in addition to my own program, "Jazz TV," (which I also direct, book, edit and operate the camera for) that features local jazz performers and those passing through Seattle. My name is Jessica Davis and I am a journalist, documentarian, and producer. Recently, as a Community Relations Specialist at SCAN, I provided a voice for SCAN through its newsletter, networked with members of the community and helped produce a series of community programs for the channel, in addition to my own program, "Jazz TV," (which I also direct, book, edit and operate the camera for) that features local jazz performers and those passing through Seattle. I currently serve as the Managing Editor of the Northwest Jazz Profile magazine, which distributes throughout Washington, Oregon and California, as well as Vancouver, B.C. I have been involved in jazz as a writer, performer, audience member, producer and student and I'm proud to represent and support a form of music that allows for freedom in creative thought and expression. In addition to SCAN productions, I have also worked as a production assistant for a number of other productions, including CBS's "Amazing Race" and "Women of Worth," a production co-sponsored by Time, Inc. and L'Oreal Paris. I am also currently in the process of making a video documentary on Seattle's jazz scene of the 50's and 60's. A native of Washington State, I graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism from the University of Washington. I have written for more than 30 publications locally and nationally, including the Seattle Weekly, Seattle Sound, News Tribune, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and Blues to Do. And, I have written about all types of arts and interviewed a range of celebrities, from musical impresario Quincy Jones to actor Tony Curtis, to Calypso vocalist and human rights activist Harry Belafonte, to comedian Margaret Cho. For two years, I served as the Theater Editor for Tablet, an alternative Seattle magazine and for four years, I worked as a full-time Staff Reporter for the Jewish Transcript in Seattle. In addition to a number of local publications, I have also worked as an On-Site Evaluator for 4 Culture, in which I have attended and written reports on different arts events to help determine their grant funding.
