I absolutely adore this topic. Thank you for your inspiration.
I wrote a 3 step formula for obtaining any goal and I'll be dipping into it at our next hosted Biznik MasterMind Gathering on Dec 1st.
Please consider participating, as your mentorship with a break-out group would be fantastic.
Love your suggestions, Shannon.
4 thoughts:
1) I need to work on my signature and motto. Someone just told me my Biznik line isn't effective enough. argh!
2) Regarding vertical length: I've always been careful of not making my sig so long that they have to move the page down to see it all. I know when I see someone's long-winded sig, it sometimes makes me turned off. Care to elaborate on that?
3) Also, if I include all the ventures that I'm a part of, it might scare someone ;)
4) Required by law?? I'm out of the loop on this one...
I'm really looking forward to this one!
If you'd like to walk away with a PLAN for one long-term goal of yours - business or personal, be sure to come @ 9:30. I'll be there.
Regardless if 1 person comes or 18, we'll be using a combo of passion exploration, backwards-planning and instant-gratification techniques. The result? No more waiting to meet that long-term goal to experience what you REALLY want!
Amy Woidtke and I are also thinking up a tantalizing event for personalizing your own Biznik Nametag.
For all those times you come to a Biznik event, why not create your own and make it green at the same time?
Perhaps we can come up with a way to have the Biznik logo included on it. We would need green logo stickers or something ;)
I'll be there.
If anyone wants to carpool from up north (I'm in Edmonds), I'm up for it!
Also, I just realized I never posted the article I published on Biznik:
How to Green Your Biznik Events
On the comment area, I just posted an event idea that Amy and I are thinking up...it would help make Biznik events just a little more green :)
Thanks for sharing, Conrad.
Having a green "plan" as part of an organization's vision statement would be fantastic to see...and then, of course, creating a strategy where everyone is a stakeholder (not just the visionaries).
I applaud you, Sierra, for taking the stand to create a space for debriefing with the group.
I think this created the necessary fire to open people up - and the idea of going around the room to express wants/needs in a nutshell was fabulous!!

I'm so excited for this event, Sierra!
This is my ENTIRE strategy for life/business coaching.
Simply ask: What do you need?
Many people really don't know what they need until they declare it! AND it's a great experience to be on the receiving end of their answer.
See you soon!!
That was such a helpful gathering this morning!! What viable business ventures going on in this green world.
Annette - Sorry, 10-12 is one of those times where most of the forces could meet :) I hope you can make it to one in the future...
Amy! We really do need to put on that name tag event...maybe aim it for the anti-office holiday party, or a new year kick-off party!
~j
I am also VERY proud to be a member of an organization that is not only aware, but really taking the actions to Go Green. Thank you, Lara and Dan!!
Shades of green are everywhere you look.
What's ONE thing we can do to make events more sustainable?
Know your environmental intentions behind your events. This will have the most impact. This vision will answer to all that you do. If you choose to create a "carbon neutral event," communicate your intentions when researching and determining venues, vendors, presentation processes, travel and so on.
Even if you appreciate and request the physical catalog, you may not just trash it next time, but use it for your next event brainstorming meeting. Reusing stuff can be fun! and it taps into the creative part of one's mind :)
Once you buy a certain car, you start seeing that car EVERYwhere. Once you start going green, you start seeing green everywhere!
Anybody catch the Van Jones interview Leif conducted? If so, what did you gain from it?? :)
Leif - would you like to share anything you received that may be applicable to this group of green-related businesses?
If there is a thread already answering to this, maybe you can point us to it...
I absolutely adore reading all the comments coming in!!
Such inspiration.
Thanks to ALL of you who are sharing your thoughts and ideas...
GenGreen rocks! Catch her on twitter :)
Looking forward to this, Leif!!
Will pass the word around.
As many of you know, the event industry creates tons of post-consumer waste and leaves a big carbon footprint in various ways.
Taking this into deep consideration, a resource could be made to give green businesses involved in the event industry a platform for building and promoting green events.
I've done just that and it's called GreenYourTheme.com.
It's a special interest community of Green Event Planners and Providers, all sharing green expertise, offerings and referrals.
I'll be just one of many vendors (Eco-Friendly promotional items and gifts) involved in contributing to this network.
So, if you're an Event Planner or a have a green product, service, or venue to promote to the event industry, visit the site to join the Members-Only Network! Or please pass it on to those you know who would be interested.
I'll be posting this on the community forum as well, but I'd welcome your feedback on the site here!
Sorry, scratch the other sites and just go with GreenYourTheme.com.
I will be just one of resources on this site that Event Planners can go to. Of course, I'll dominate the eco-gifts section ;)
Saying that, does it seem clear enough now, Joe?
Thanks, Joe.
This just goes to show me that trying to toggle b/w both sites was very confusing so I needed to create a platform that says it all. So here is the re-take:
For Event Planners wanting to "green" their events, GreenYourTheme.com is a Members-Only Network that allows you to connect with other green vendors to decrease the carbon footprint of your events and build on the powerful brand of going green.
I think the Greenie MasterMind Meet-Up was a great start to something very influential. Thanks to all of you who participated and we welcome newcomers to the next meeting, as we'll be holding it as a bi-weekly event. I see this as a great opportunity to gain an outside perspective on one's business.
Here's one comment made by Adam:
"Thank you Amy and Jessie for organizing this event. I found it to be a great use of my time and I look forward to this group expanding. The concepts are great and I think everyone added a unique input that I probably could not get anywhere else. See you at the next meeting."
Thanks, Adam!
I'm sorry to have to cancel...I will catch this opportunity again - I was looking forward to it!!
Thanks, Dirk.
Paul,
Thank you for this article.
Do you recommend giving gifts to employees as recognition? If so, what kinds seem to be well received?
Bummer, Allison!
I was looking forward to meeting up again.
Good luck with that online project ~
Linen and 'china' rentals are more green but there are biodegradeable corn and sugar cane products that the woodland park zoo uses now in the cafeteria :)
It all does come down to a shade of green toward eco-friendlier. Eventually the culture influences the corporations and there is a shift in green awareness in all aspects of our lives.
Soon, it will be common to be a MasterMind in this area, if all goes well!
