Thank you, Susan for including me, for it was a quick connection...but my heart was with you all along the way. It was not possible because of car issues to meet you sooner. Next time I will be there the whole way. It is a terrific walk, and gives you a whole new way of seeing and experiencing Bellingham. I have walked the trail before...and it is gorgeous!
Tsombe,
I too got alot out of the person-to-person nature of the event. yes, the venue could be improved from a noise standpoint, but the food was stunning, and the company awesome!
Here is what I realized from your way of doing the contribution game...it allowed me a psychological way to get my needs met by writing what I wanted down. That allowed me then to quiet the chatter in my brain and put the 'neediness' on the shelf so to speak...for I knew that at another point i would be able to be fully focussed on.
It is like acknowledging that everyone is important, and assuring us all that we would have our needs attended to...and that opens up the listening and contribution process in an all new way..
Mostly, this allowed me to be able to fully focus on the other person 110% for the time we had to do it. This was incredible, for my ability to concentrate went up a bunch -which increased my resourcefulness and my ability to contribute to the other person.
I not only felt good for the value I received, but I felt like the other person was in a position to fully receive what I had to give, for they knew that my needs were checked at the door so to speak.
It was terrific as a process. I recommend you do it again for your people in Portland...and I will be adding the technique to my skill sets.
thank you for sharing it.
then, wh
This event was stunning. Yes, it was noisy...so that meant we only were able to focus on a few people in our circle...but so what?
That meant we had to focus completely on the small group around us...and that meant that we got some really meat on the table and alot of productivity came out of that.
For example, in my group I learned how to talk about business collaboration as a form of sportsmanship...and we, too discussed that competition is not viewed as bad when it is designed to encourage everyone tolive into their highest potential.
People love games, competitions...because they are for striving.
It is the nature of the energy of the game that gives it a negative or positive connotation.
Competitions or games that are entered into with a win-win-win attitude, rather than the perception that there must be a winner and a loser is a problem with the attitude; not with the game or the competition.
It is useful to notice the difference.
Win-lose is about adversarial and dualist competition.
Win-win-win is about collaborative competition...competition where the collective intelligence benefits after the striving is complete and the scores are tallied.
Very different in results. They both have scores, and someone is declared a winner...but the outcomes are not at all the same.
Sportsmanship in business...that is a different version of collaboration.
This event was most remarkable. It showed me how the new world will work as people learn to meet each other around topics of interest, and how fast we can establish relationships, share knowledge and wisdom and move it forward.
In the past geographic location was the way that society connected...and the time it took to organize and put together a trip like this would have overwhelmed most groups...so it would not have happened.
Now because of ease of the ease of communication through Biznik, together with the removing of resistance to attendee inclusion, and the ability to unite under specific topics...this event went off great!
It is truly a physical demonstration of how the Law of Attraction works in the world of business.
So much came from this regarding how to do business differently...I will never be the same. Thank you to everyone for your full out participation.
This is truly a remarkable thing to be able to organize, put together and run a weekend excursion through a social media site. It truly shows the power of how new relationships, new community collaboration and technology can forge new ways of doing business.
This is very nice. Thank you Tshombe and Lori, for doing this. It is innovative. I am looking forward to the weekend alot.

Yes, it was wonderful to be able to think and talk way outside the box!
April shared a great way for businesses to be able to support fundraisers...yet not lose revenue! Brilliant. It was also fun to brainstom new ways we can support startup enterprises in this new emerging economy!
Thanks so much, Lori for hosting this!
Gosh, things have gotten extremely busy tonight for me with a movie I have in production on intentional media, so I am having to cancel at the last minute...so I hope someone can take my spot!
I was really looking forward to meeting you, Steve. Lori Richardson highly recommends this, so I am registered for a couple of your other events!
This sounds truly fun - and is a great way to do business and build sound, strong relationships while enjoying the region! What a great idea Lori and Tshombe! This is thinking way outside the box of community building!
I assume you will call us with teleconference details? Or e-mail us? Or post it here? My e-mail address is gijoy@comcast.net if that is useful.
This was a very diverse and fun meeting for me, for we had information going in, plus people had emailed me reactions to some of the comments that I made and others made earlier.
I think it is best if I speak from my perspective, rather than try to summarize others conclusions. What I got is that language itself is morphing very fast. It is like certain words take on a certain 'story' or context based on the collective agreement at the time.
For example, a year ago, the word change was resisted, and today it is a hot topic. and positively so.
I've noticed that popular language changes generation, by levels of technology use, by bio-region, by industry, by political orientation, by creative community, geographical community or discipline.
The speed of communication is moving so quickly, words that were used as a positive word, can suddenly be interpreted as negative - depending on who is listening.
On one hand, you could interpret that as meaning that it is impossible to unify people, or to succeed in reaching them, unless you spend a huge amount of time on up to the minute marketing. That may be true.
On the other hand, I heard something else. That people are tired of the latest and greatest secrets, etc. What they want is relevancy and authenticity.
So this means that you can use a formula for writing...not be limited to a set of specific words.
I think we can use the simple language that conveys passionate communication to the market you are in. The key is to make your comments relative and relevant to the larger goal, yet specific to the immediate action you want the buyer to act on.
This allows your readers to read between the lines and get what your meaning is...not just your words.
There is more, so I will write it up and post it for all of you to read.

I was really looking forward to coming to this event, but I have many projects gelling right now that make it impossible to fit this in tomorrow.
I hope that someone else can fit into the slot and gets the opportunity to learn from such wise marketers!
Have fun tomorrow!

It is going to be a fascinating meeting! I just got several messages from people who are reactive to the word abundance, and community...and it is wonderful to get this feedback...for differences is the point. From diversity will come the zest...the attraction factor words we want.
And that is what makes the creative entrepreneur so much fun! We are disparate in views...some of the disparity is around generational difference, some media or social change difference, some is the rebelliousness of our spirits fighting with the illusions of our stories and institutions that are holding us down into paradigms of history. Some is philosophical difference.
The key is that at heart we are all striving to make a difference that matters on this earth for each other and for life itself, nature. We are striving to love and live well to the best of our ability in honor of others. That is the core driving force that I feel unites the creative spirit that is alive and well in business...and we are looking at business as a way to evolve and express our creative voice as well.
So how do we market to that maverick entrepreneur who is driven by both passion and a desire to change the world? How do we find the words that work to identify us immediately to each other...across disciplines and sectors and demographic niche markets?
How can we cut through the illusions to get down to the truth of it and find those emerging leaders who are willing to examine their beliefs, and to change them to adapt to the reality of the marketplace and the world we live in?
What are phrases and terms that attract us to do business together?
I think the words are collaborative, creative, uniting, naturally intelligent, proactive...and more that I will share tonight.
Joy
Chrisitian, I am bummed you can't come. I was really looking forward to meeting you.
Becca, I have no idea where Burien is, but we will see about getting you a ride - and if all else fails, as long as it isn't too far away...maybe I can take you there afterwards. I am headed north...but whatever works.
Joy
Awesome! Yes, it is finding the new 'story' and helping us to find the language that matches it 'energetically' really. I find that using terms that are simple and heart centered are critical - for we must be able to transmit whole concepts in few words, into mutliple languages that can cross continents.
Here's an idea...between now and tomorrow evening, think about what you are looking for with others when you choose to do business with them. What are words you like to hear, or like-kind personality traits of your ideal client, teammate or business partner? Bring those words with you.
Perhaps if we can agree on our operating principles and characteristics, then we can find or build new words or 'story types' that align people's energetic passions more effectively.
As an example, I am looking for people who are creatively entrepreneurial outliers who are collaborative. People of expertise and courage who are willing to put effort into what we do, and who are putting their mastery out there to build a business on purpose to serve both humanity and the earth. People who are putting their mouth, their money, and their action where their heart is.
Yet, I feel really vulnerable when I speak like this, for I have been ridiculed in the past for being too emotional - too passionate. Yet, emotional power is the only thing that I believe in. It is what moves worlds to change...and that is our human task in this next period of time. And, that is the only thing that I find makes money sustainably over time. So how do I speak that in an ad? Or text that to somebody?
Heck, maybe we can find a couple slogans for who we are and build that like a motto?

Hi, Christian and Tracy,
I am really looking forward to a lively discussion. We have so much to offer that is juicy from the past meeting we did in Dec. on this topic.
For example, The core challenge we identified then was “What is authentic and motivating language that works to identify quickly like-kind "creative" entrepreneurs? And the language that then allows us to communicate effectively and efficiently and then to collaborate across sectors?”
It was challenging to write down and examine the results from that last meeting – and what it did was leave me with more questions.
So I talked to some of the folks, then went out to do more research and found some paradoxes about the new emerging entrepreneur that were delightful.
As a group, I found it fascinating that we are all leaders in our own right. We are independent trailblazers enrolling others to follow us or buy our services...yet we didn’t really like the word? What's that about?
I also noticed that we want to help the earth restore its abundance, and we want a type of abundance in our lives, yet we rebel against abundance, the word. We are re-building a new world community – but we don’t really like the word community. We want to collaborate, yet we refuse to be put inside a box and labeled, so we separate and isolate ourselves by our language.
It is like we are rebelling against the marketing language that we are trying to use to market to ourselves.
So what is the answer? That’s what we will be talking about. I will bring a summation of what we did last time. I will propose some hypotheses about the conclusions I drew. I will propose some uniting language and see what you all think about it. I would love any of you to bring your ideas or new insights as well.
At the end of the meeting, we will find perhaps 10 or 20 core words that matter to all of us, that we can agree unite us, and we will turn this into an article to share on Biznik.
Looking forward to a wonderful, regenerative discussion!
Awesome. I am looking at how do we rapidly, effectively and successfully find the people who think the same...in spite of our age differences and political or religious leanings. I am striving to find the bridge language to the leaders in all groups who are by nature leaders, innovators and pioneers.
It is more about attitude and altitude, than about demographics and logistics of who we are.
Joy
Christian, You sound like a kick! Really looking forward to connecting with you! Absolutely a Creative Entrepreneur by the look of it! I am sure you will have some terrific insights, and I love that you are well travelled.

Hi, everybody...I submitted our next meeting to the company, so it is in my profile pending approval. I imagine you can go in and RSVP right away. Would love to see you all come...and hope the time works.
If any of you have a larger meeting space in the Seattle area that is free and allows us more space to expand, please let me know for future meetings. We would love to allow more people to come.
Jacob is allowing us the free space, and we need to work inside a conference room this time...for it is not winter holiday time. Please give him kudos, thank you's, and refer business his way for hosting this!
Hope you can make it...it will be a fun event.
Thank you, Kelly...when do you think I should schedule another one for the group? We all said yes, but did not think to figure out how soon. Have a suggestion?
Joy
Thanks a bunch! Really looking forward to it!
Awesome to Exit Realty, to Tom, to Lori...you are right on the money, Tshombe. Thank you all.
And thanks to to Bob and Judy. I am delighted to see you here, for we can use your skills and knowledge base.
I used to do hardcopy newsletters to my clients...and it gave me an 80% retention rate! Doing it right pays big dividends.
Moving this skill to the web has been my challenge. I don't have a good technical roadmap or checklist to follow...so maybe you can bring something that would help us physically get it done? I hope you can cover not only the writing part, but how we feasibly do it so that those of us who know its power can actually execute the action.
Thanks so much, Joy
Yes, the ice fountain is worth a sidetrip just to check it out - at Hearthfire Grill. it is a beautiful fountain that became an ice sculpture that is simply gorgeous. I could spend quite a bit of time marvelling at nature's beauty and how it adapts to changing conditions! It reminds me of caves I've been in! Joy
Hi, folks,
I have written up a compendium of notes on this, and then a personal conclusion that I have drawn from the topic, plus from additional conversations I have had with some of you. I would love to share it with you, as an e-mail attachment. it is not ready to publish as an article yet...but if you want a copy, please e-mail me at gijoy@comcast.net and I will forward it to you.
Also, be watching for an announcement for Feb. 10 for me to host the next event. Jacob and I have been busy...and that is the next night that works! We have to limit attendance to 16 people...so if you want to attend, be prepared to RSVP right away. I will be posting it by tomorrow!
