  • Hi Laura,

Thank you for hosting a great Mastermind group. I loved how gently and compassionately you moderated the interactions. Lots of good ideas were shared by all.

Now, about that timer ... <lol>

  • Hey Jenn!

Small world! It's great to see you here.

I didn't know your Painted Laydies is a mineral makeup line. Good luck with the positioning statement.

    See you on Skype. :)

  • There are lots of twitter tools. Here's a new one that you may find useful.

TweetBeep is like Google Alerts for Twitter! Put in a keyword or website, and get emails when others tweet it! http://tweetbeep.com/

  • Hi Debra,

That's a great question. You can use various approaches in deciding who to follow. For instance, I follow friends; then thought leaders and opinion shapers in my niche -- personal finance.

I'm interested in Internet Marketing, so I follow quite a few IMers and Affiliate Marketers. My target market is women business owners so I follow leaders there. I follow some members of associations I belong ... and members of online communities, like Biznikers.

You can also click on any person's name and see their list of followers. Follow anyone who interests you. I look at potential followers' list of past tweets -- if they are informative, interesting, or funny I may follow them. You can also click on the public feed (labeled Everyone) and see what tweets come through. Some are fun.

Your list of followers will grow over time so don't feel pressure to add, or to be added. The thing about Twitter is you never know why strangers add you. I tweet infrequently. I think I'm added because of the hat. :)

Yes, you can unfollow anyone you decide to. Just click on their name to do it. Twitter doesn't send out unfollow emails so it's private. I unfollow people who tweet too much about too little. :)

Have fun with it my friend. Hope this helps.

    Warmly, Judith

  • I'll like to change the font and the font color on my profile page. Any possibility of this happening in the near future?

    Thanks! Judith

    Hi Rachel,

If you're using a WordPress theme for your blog, you can install the WP Ajax Edit Comments plugin which allows users to edit their comments inline.

  • Kaya,

That's not entirely accurate. People follow those who they think have an interesting tweet time line or for other reasons. If you tweet interesting, informative things you will be followed, but it may not be by everyone you follow.

When you start a tweet with @twittername, that person will see your tweet regardless of whether she follows you.

If you click on someone's name, you can view their prior tweets and their followers. You can also use http://www.summize.com to see all tweets about you ... and anyone else.

Twitter makes sense as you use it. Let its logic, or lack thereof, come to you. :)

    Hope this helps.

    Warmly, Judith

  • I tweet and have been for about two years now. Follow me at http://twitter.com/JudithStephens.

I use Twhirl and TweetDeck to manage my usage. http://twhirl.com and http://tweetdeck.com. I have the notification bells turned off except for replies and direct messages to me.

With TweetDeck you can group your followers. I have a VIP group and when busy or on deadline, I only read that groups' tweets and save the rest for when time permits.

Btw, some of these social networking sites enhance your strategic marketing and sales efforts. When I share a new blog post or radio interview URL, I get clicks to my site or offering.

I've found twitter to be a very effective marketing tool and it's fun. I connect to more people in less time than via any other medium. In my opinion, these tools level the playing field.

  • Great testimonial Jean-Pierre! And wonderfully accurate.

    Paul,

Your workshop was fantastic. It was one of the best sales workshops I've attended. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to learn from you.

I started applying some of the techniques you shared immediately. Your tips really do enhance rapport. I can't wait to share your approach and expertise with my clients and associates. You ROCK! :)

  • Joe,

With all due respect, let me say that you sound like a person on a payroll with benefits lecturing to those of us who don't share that level of financial security.

It sounds like ... and I could be wrong.

Elizabeth, I understand and agree with your perspective. Not every Bizniker is in a position to charge other than hourly rates, and some rates will be less than $75/hour.

There is no valid reason for anyone to feel "less than" because of their fee structure, or for anyone else to assume a priori that there are inherent "esteem" issues. Perhaps there is simply a recognition of what their industry and target market will bear now.

  • You should back up your database and files daily or weekly anyway. There is a WP plugin that does it automatically and emails you the link. Here's an articles and links. http://ithemes.com/two-quick-ways-to-backup-wordpress-blog/

After upgrading my own WP blog, I agree that you might want to outsource the work.

It's great that you're able to answer your own questions. :)

  • Hmm. I suggest you upgrade to 2.6. Apparently 2.5.1 has some deficiencies or WordPress wouldn't have ungraded.

  • I read that Google and Technorati (Yahoo too?) are going to unlist older, less-secure versions of WordPress. And 2.3.1 is considered older.

WP just released 2.6. Upgrading is advisable.

  • BizJam was fabulous. The opportunity to network (meet, connect, and establish the basis for followup) with a large group of receptive people was great.

I liked the way the Pathable name badges motivated me to look at the people I sat next to or passed in the hall, instead of doing the I don't see you glance that is often the case.

As a volunteer room monitor with Bridget Gailey, I attended many workshops. I thought the speakers were informative, interesting and responsive to audience questions and comments.

Lisa Johnson's keynote speech woke me up Friday morning, and made me happy about it. She is excellent.

I especially enjoyed Leif Hansen's and Karrie Kohlhaas' workshops. I liked that participants were an active part of Leif's workshop. Since it was right after lunch, his workshop design facilitated group interaction and minimized napping.

Karrie's was the last workshop on Friday. The quality of the pricing information Karrie shared made me want to hang onto her brilliance as she sped her way through the key points she wanted us to get. It was a Wow.

These were some of the highlights for me.

I hope to meet many more Biznikers at next year's BizJam. It's a great way to spend one or two days updating your skills while meeting and collaborating with other business owners.

    It really didn't suck.
