What Judy does
Think of me as your online advocate. The one who tells your story.
I help you figure out exactly who you are, what you do best and who you do it for.
I help find the cool things you do that having been hiding and I shine a light on them.
Your website visitors are jaded. Suspicious. They've been taken for a ride before and if they think it's going to happen again? Click--they're gone.
I write your website copy so your readers know there is a living, breathing person behind it. No hype. No marketing jargon. No lifeless clichés (I will never use "killer" as an adjective).
I write simple but engaging text that makes your reader say, "You can solve this problem for me? That's exactly what I need."
I give you a unique and dynamic online identity by telling your stories in ways that make your prospects want to know more about you.
What Judy does best
I walk alongside bright, talented solopreneurs and small biz owners to give them an online presence that gives them a serious shove from average to astounding.
I help creative professionals and service-based companies with copy that stops their website visitors from skimming and scanning and gets them reading to the end. Filling out the website contact form. Picking up the phone.
I can help you if:
• You want to present yourself as a professional but you feel that you are hiding the things that make you unique.
• You know you do awesome stuff, but not enough people know about it.
• You want to show up online in a way that doesn't make your visitors nod off--or click away.
• You know what you want to say, but you just can't make the words dance.
My focus is:
Online Identity Development- I walk you through a process that helps you discover exactly who you are, what your unique skills are and how to position yourself in the marketplace--all while perfectly communicating your real and authentic self to your prospects and clients.
Blog and Website Bios- I don't create the ones that make you yawn. I like the other ones--you know, colorful, unique, memorable. I'll help you create a unique and consistent identity across multiple social media platforms: LinkedIn, Biznik, Twitter and others.
Website Copy- We all have Attention Deficit Disorder when we're web surfing. We scan, we skim and if we don't find what we need? Click. We're gone. Readability is key, but so are benefit-rich headlines and keyword-rich messages that show your clients who you really are and just why you are the best person to solve their problems.
E-newsletters- An e-letter can be one of your most effective marketing tools. It shows your expertise, builds your credibility, and moves your prospects along the path to purchase. Sign up for our free weekly e-tip to see one way to lay one out. Or call me if you just need a friendly critique of an issue. I'll show you how to make the content both useful and engaging.
I'm a copywriter who gets the marketing part. I know how to ask the right question and I make you an equal partner in the process so your authentic voice shines through. Because that's what your web visitors are looking for. A real person.
I've been a professional writer for more than 20 years. I have written for event planners, third world development organizations and everything in-between. I've taken technical "doctor-ese" and turned it into language that people without medical degrees can understand.
And I love figuring out the best way to position a small business to attract the clients they were meant to be serving.
But in the end, it really doesn't matter how much a copywriter know about your field or industry. Because good copywriters take in new concepts like breathing air. What matters more is how curious they are, how open they are to new ideas, how much they know about what makes people open their pocketbooks and how well they put words together.
A couple more things about me. I was a volunteer mentor for an elementary school-aged child for three years. I traveled to sub-Sahara Africa as manager of writing services for a third world development organization. I've been a teacher and a principal. And I live on Anderson Island, in south Puget Sound, Washington state.
Oh. And I can juggle and say, "Four knives will be sufficient" in Swahili (but not at the same time).
I am also a contributing reporter for The Business Report, a monthly publication that reaches 13,000 businesses and 33,000 executives in nine cities in South King County, Washington state.
The one thing I can't do is play the harp. I guess I never got the hang of making cappuccinos, either. Or shooting one of those brightly colored balls into a corner pocket. Those three things. Everything else I can do.
