It's "I Love Being Abroad: Hello Bali!," a 75-minute musical trip bursting with cultural information, exotic liaisons, and transcontinental transactions in Paris, Istanbul, India and Bali as seen through the eyes of Julie Cascioppo, one of Seattle's most revered cabaret performers. Cascioppo brings this new installment of her "I Love Being Abroad" series to the Good Shepherd Center, Chapel Saturday night, June 27. Her annual birthday performance is highly anticipated by her enthusiastic fans. Cascioppo's series takes the audience along with her while she sings in 5-Star hotels, pursuing romantic illusions and possibilities. "I loved the notion of singing in exotic nightclubs and meeting interesting people from every corner of the globe," says Cascioppo, "and exotic room service that really delivers the goods!” Julie started her illustrious cabaret incarnations at the Pink Door back in 1982 and enjoyed an extended run through the 90s. She then set her sights on conquering new lands. Julie remembers, "I figured if I could make it at the Pink Door, I could make it anywhere, why not Paris?" That was the beginning of what would become her insatiable urge to combine travel and entertainment to the amusement and fulfillment of connoisseurs of the art of cabaret, jazz and humor.
