What Julie does
I'm assistant chapter-head of 206 Zulu, Seattle's branch of Universal Zulu Nation, codirector of Reclaim the Media, a media justice organization, and Northwest regional coordinator for Hip Hop Congress, and urban arts and culture 501c3 non profit. I'm also an artist on B Girl Media. My new album, The Knox Family E.P, is scheduled to debut this Spring.

Education
B.A in Liberal Arts with a focus on Emancipatory Education and Social Change from Antioch University Seattle.
Experience
In addition to being an English instructor at Brain Child Learning Center in Bellevue, Washington for 7 years, I've taught Hip Hop and poetry classes at El Centro de la Raza's Hope for Youth program, B Girl Bench, and Seattle Debate Foundation's Hip Hop Debate program. My curriculum has been published in the world's first ever Hip Hop and Education Guidebook, released by the New York-based Hip Hop Association.
I've organized and/or presented panels on Hip Hop Culture for the Northwest Community Radio Network, Washington State Counselor's for Social Justice, the National Conference on Media Reform, the Northwest Women of Color Summit, the Green Festival, Highline Community College, Seattle University, Evergreen State College, Willamette University and more.
I am currently organizing the 2009 National Hip Hop Congress Conference, July 29th-August 2nd.
