Do you celebrate mom on Mother's Day?

Our Mom's brought us into the world. We owe so much to them. I read somewhere that if you actually paid an annual salary for all the different jobs a mom performs on a regular basis, mom's should make a six figure income.

so do you think mom's deserve to have their own day of recognition, and if so how do you like to let her know how you feel?

Having delivered flowers to so many mom's over the years i have seen first hand the joy they feel when they get a special gift delivered to them. the irony is my own mom is allergic to so many things so flowers are out for her(think i'll send her some chocolate this year instead). Good news as a florist in Seattle i get to live vicariously through all the mom's i deliver to.

We are rolling up our sleeves and getting ready for this holiday. This is what we live for: helping others celebrate life!

The BiZi Bee Story

Hello All,

Just wanted to take the time to share our story here within our community. Many of you already know Heather and I, but you may not know much about how we started. Being a small business, and a retail florist in particular is fraught with challenges. We are very proud to have made it this far.

To share our experience with you I just wrote a blog post in response to a request from the knot.com and the seattle pi. They seemed interested in gathering some stories about couplepeneurs in the wedding industry.

This gave me the perfect opportunity to reflect on how we started. Biznik has a played a big part in our success to this point and i made sure to give the credit where credit was do. Thank you to all my brothers and sisters here who have been such a big source of support. Our friends here in the Seattle Biznik community have been a most valuable resource.

any ideas why i rank higher in Google for bizibeeflorist.com in Explorer and Safari than Firefox for "seattle florist"? is it just the Firefox displays or could G be reading the cookies in the individual browser application? Hey everyone,

just wanted to give you a heads up in case you haven't seen the events section! We are having the sexy sexpert Raven give a talk about how this Valentine's Day doesn't have to be the same old boring holiday. Time to break out of the commercialism, and drill down to a meaningful dialogue about Sex and Love. After all, these are a few of things that heighten the experience of our humanity and make life truely exciting!

can the internet create legal warfare..

between flower shops over branding? hypothetically, what if there are two flower shops on opposite coasts..each serving there respective populations..what if they have similiar names but one spells their version slightly differently. ex. smith flowers vs smythe flowers.. imagine they both have web sites provided by Teleflora or FTD. this means they can derive commissions off orders sent anywhere..

Seeking to snag some 20% commissions, Smythe decides to target Smith's web traffic directly by using changing his sites content to suggest that he serve the latters local area. Is there grounds for Smith to sue Smythe? if so, who would win..is there case law on this?

How do you let him know what you want ladies? Have you found any particularly effective ways to express your desires to him?

Thank Our Troops This Thanksgiving

I realize that many of us may not agree with the way our military is utilized by our leaders. However, i think we can all agree that the men and women who are serving deserve our highest respect.

I am all too familiar with the sacrifices they are making and the reasons for which they make them. I served aboard the USS Camden AOE-2 and remember having only my shipmates to spend holidays with. What really moved me to write about this today was the news article about the couple who are serving in Iraq and having to leave their kids with grandma until next Dec. when they return. I feel lucky compared to them as i was a young, single guy when i was in, but i remember the wrenching homesickness all the same.

Kanye West's Mom Donde West

Guys i can't imagine what it would be like to lose my mom. Has any of you been throught this before?

I went to check Google Trends to see if there was an interesting hot topic to blog about, and there i saw the keywords Kanye West mom..so i clicked on it..and there i saw the article in the online Chicago Tribune about her recent passing. from seeing them together in that photo i could see Donde West was a beautiful and vibrant person. Really hit me that they didn't always agree, but she supported him anyway. reminds me of the relationship between my mom and I.

In fact because of reading about this, I wrote a poem and put it in my blog. should pop up in my profile soon, but if you don't wanna wait you can see it here instead of my prof. The poem is called "Mother's New Beginning" and i wrote it as much to remind myself to strive to live what's it's about.. The important thing to me about life is that it have meaning..and that it not be lived in vain.

Social Networking while Impaired

Running a business is strenous. It involves long hours and lots of work. Sometimes i've found that when i get around to letting my hair down i can tend to over do it a little.

I think i was fortunate today, but i was really amused when my wife Heather sent me a Biznik message(after months of difficulty she's finally found how to get through to me reliably..LoL! she just joined!) cautioning me about drinking and emailing. I guess she's been here to witness my past sins.:)

That got me thinking.. have any of you made social blunders while either with online networking or emailing that occured while your impaired? Am i the only one or have you been there too? Confess!

Such blunders don't only occur while under the influence of a potential neurochemically active substance..they also occur when we are really tired, frustrated, or overwhelmed. You are welcome to share your story in the first person or perhaps you'd like to change the names of the guilty and the innocent,but if you know something share!

Oh boy, i'm really opening a can of worms here.:) i strongly encourage any sharing any stories that may involve my indescretions to keep that alias option open. Here goes!

I would have asked what you were going to give for Xmas this year, but since i don't want to make you give away any of your secrets/ruin any surprises you're conspiring about.. i thought giving you a chance to hint to someone else would be perfect!

Do you send Christmas Cards to Clients?

When i was in the car industry a few years back the owner of our dealership contracted with a service to send Christmas cards every year.. I've heard others say they preferred a different holiday so their cards didn't get buried by all the others. So maybe sending Thanksgiving cards would work as well.

Another business i know had us deliver mugs with their logo on it filled with candy on the one year anniversary of their becoming a client. what do you guys think? is this good business?

If i were to offer a service(sending gifts or cards) doing this i wonder if there would be any interest. Chime in if you have an opinion!

This Seattle Florist is Buzzing about "Bee Movie"

"Bee Movie" launches today Nov 2. Looks like a good one to take kids to and it has Jerry Seinfeld playing the lead character bee. What i think is cool is that it also features Rene Zellweger as a florist named Vanessa.

I really think this new feature with the hyperlinked tag line(for supporting members only! upgrade now!) is starting to kick in as well. guys i'm really starting to climb under so many different key words i wanted..and i'm sooo excited!
