  • Biggest Biznik Event Ever!

What was the biggest Biznik event you ever went to attendance wise besides bizjam?

i have seen several events get over 50..Mcleod recently booked 103..

i would like to set the bar for a fun event, filled with fun, pool, drinks, billiards, with lots perks..billiards i think will be free and food and drinks will be at happy hour prices.. i am going to host it at a spot that can handle a huge crowd..

dan, i want to charge a dollar for this event, but lets wave the fee if they bring a friend who hasn't joined biznik yet. can that be done? fee could also be waived for people who stumble on this on their own and haven't heard of Biznik but are curious.. So everybody Digg this thread!

i have a standing invitation from Jillian's for this..so depending on interest/logistics i'll put it together.

Lets put together one of the coolest seattle biznik events ever..

    cheers, justin

  • Childcare For Mommie's Who Would Like To Attend Events

So what do you think? would setting up a babysitting co-op for Biznik mommies who would like to attend events but can't because someone has to take care of the kids?

If you think this might be a helpful idea...do you have any suggestions about how it could be done?

  • Internet Courts..Are they the Future?

I was just pondering how neat it is that thanks to Biznik i am going to able to conduct business maybe outsource to people outside of Seattle..If i need a virtual assistant who's easy to get along with perhaps i might choose Brianna from Tulsa..or maybe i'd like a building designed Faiz from Bhopal, India could help out.

However, as i began to ponder this i began to have a concern. Often in business either through miscommunication or unforseen difficulty..disputes arise. If they happen between small business people on opposite ends of the globe how are people going to resolve them?

Seems to me our current legal system is inadequately equipped to deal with issues inside our own country unless they involve large amounts of money. Otherwise it doesn't seem to be cost effective to seek recourse.

What does the future hold for small businesses patronizing each other across borders? Are we left to take the chance? i loose a thousand dollars and it hurts! Is there some kind of small claims court for international disputes?

Perhaps the answer lays in the creation in some kind of business model like the Better Business Bureau? only they need to scale up to an international level. that way there is at least some mechanism for mediation/arbritration in the even things do not happen correctly..

    Your opinion please..

  • Who is a Good Notetaker?

    Hello All,

I have been having some great brainstorming sessions lately with some of the talented professionals in this community. Think i am going to start recording them in a digital format.

It would be really nice if someone around here could then summarize the discussions in a written (& easily manipulated) format that i could then cut in paste into strategic planning tools (like a biz plan).

Please make some suggestions as to who you think may be the right person to undertake this task.

    Bright Blessings, Justin

  • thank you biznik(ers) for taking the time..Now: New Burning Question?

Who wants to put the fire out?

First, i just want to say how lucky i feel to be here. You have all been great! I especially wish to thank all of you who shared input on my Valentine's Day Hubba Bubba flyer that Giannina Silverman crafted for BiZi Bee Floral..

Several of you pointed out that i have some work to do as it relates to my website. apparently, many of you shared that i actually need to get a real website instead of relying on the "cheesy" FTD shopping cart that currently serves as my Ecommerce solution. Since most of you folks are really smart i am listening attentively and seriously weighing my options as to how to address that while staying within the unreasonably tight budget constraints that most of us "bootstrappers" encounter.

Seems it can take a bit of time for the money to come as fast as the bills do.

In the interim, should i work hard to create copy that drives people either in store(with a heavily locally targeted bias) and/or give them compelling reasons to pick up the phone and call me?

I have decided to attempt just that..and once again Biznik has made a contribution by offering an invitation to update the "My Promotions" portion of my profile. It just seemed too convenient to resist..so i banged this out: http://biznik.com/members/index.html?promo_id=375&t=d&id=e5e61adde6ff630c

quick, before you run off on me..do me a little favor..first, decide if what i wrote made it too long and <yawn> boring to finish.. then you have nothing to do but tell me here in this forum.

But if you feel it at least has some potential then by all means read it out loud and tell me whether this promo belongs in print (either on the web or in a periodical like "The Stranger") or would it be better suited in an audio broadcast of some kind..or both? it's totally up to you and i am all ears.:)

btw, just as an update.. i have begun to address some of my web woes.. Thanks to those feisty Rothman fellas Israel and Solomon..(gotta love em..after all things always need a bit of stirring..Biznik being no exception) we now have an SEO optimized blog: www.seattleflowersdirect.com if you want to see it. it was just born very recently so be nice.. but it does have the seeds of some good content already. especially as it pertains to brides and weddings for folks here in Seattle or anywhere really. We hope that our blog will morph into our new site thanks to the new capabilities that Wordpress has brought to 2.0. when we feel like our blog has "arrived" for prime time all i have to do is copy it over to the directories associated with my other URL's.. then i just link it to a shopping cart solution and presto! it can theoretically replace my cheesy site..

anywayz i'll spare you further eyeball strain for now..

peace, Andrew "Justin" Baker BiZi Bee Floral www.bizibeeflorist.com "Happy Valentine's Day Ya'll!"

  • Scam Alert! and Don't Let The Tax Man Beat You UP!

i am exploring several possibilities for events.

the two candidate topics are: Scam Alert and Prevention.. put on by a very friendly young lady from the BBB.

the second topic is: Don't Let The Taxman Beat You Up and Take Your Lunch Money. the guest speaker on this one would be Steve Clark,an Attorney barred in Wa and Ca, and he's a CPA..very qualified expert. i've heard him speak before, and he's a fun guy to listen to. He has some great navy seal stories to tell as well, as he recently retired from active duty as a Commander in the US Navy Seals. What better to share how to fend off the tax bully than this guy!

I want to hold the event at the Breakfast Club here at 12306 Lake City Way..it's across from Dick's Burgers. they are on Google Maps.

either that or further down is Romio's Italian and Greek food...they are aaawsome!

An evening Meeting around 7:30 i thought that would be easier to attend and perhaps we could make it on a Sunday night?

Perhaps we could have an buffet meal with spaghetti as the main entree.

after the event everyone would be welcome next door at Connie's Rimrock or if we do Romio's drinks will be available there.

who's interested and how far out should we book it for so that everyone has a chance to plan for it? i'm thinking 23 July..now i need feedback!
