What Karen does
To paraphrase Mark Morris, "I'm a writer; I write!" I work with clients to revitalize their online communications, from website content to blogs to direct marketing emails. I can show you how to use clear, engaging content to attract opt-ins, sell products and services, and create the highest level of customer experience. (Did you know that strategic content can also boost your page rankings?)
What Karen does best
Entertaining, informative communication is my area of expertise. Currently I focus on online communications projects such as web content design, SEO, email campaigns, and ghost-blogging for online businesses. My styles range from buttoned-down and corporate to off-beat and provocative.
What does Karen need?
I take on challenging content projects and editorial assignments, both short-term and ongoing. I particularly like to work on projects as part of a cutting-edge web team.
Education
B.A. in Psychology, M.S. in Journalism
Experience
I write a wide range of web content and online communications as part of SEO teams for Seattle-area business websites, and write bylined blog content for national companies such as Prefab Markets. I was a reviewer for the 2007 and 2008 Webby Awards. From 2001-2006, I worked at Apple as a writer and managing editor on projects including iReview, the iTunes Music Store, and the .Mac internet services website. My pre-Apple jobs included: managing editor of a 250,000-circulation regional magazine, communications person on the arts team that designed the Seattle-area METRO buses, freelance travel writer in Italy, and investigative reporter.
