What Karen does
I create lush, luminous, round paintings prints, drawings and public art. My luxurious work helps you create the sophisticated spaces you work and live in.
What Karen does best
My capacity to make connections between disparate concepts, disciplines and ideas is at the heart of all the things I create - from paintings to educational curricula. My ability to facilitate deep collaboration makes learning joyful, powerful public art and studio products that are magnetic.
What does Karen need?
What can art work do for your business? What can art work do for your living space? Art work adds cache, recognition and distinction to any space. More importantly, it feeds your spirit. I wish for my art work to provide these things for you - a still point, a breathing space, a meditative portal, a powerful signal to the Universe that you are in your right place.
Education
Hunter College awarded me a MFA in painting and drawing, 1985. I received my BFA from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1979. In 1990, Teachers College, Columbia University awarded me a Masters degree in Education.
Experience
The Reinhart collection in Germany owns my work, as does the New York Public Library, Public Schools 193 and 239. My work is in many private collections across the US. For over 22 years I've designed and taught arts curricula that integrate learning in the arts with academic studies. In 2006 I facilitated the creation of a school garden at Public School 99 in Kew Gardens, Queens - the first of more community gardens to come.
