  • Turns out I won't be back from a trip but looking forward to the October version!

  • I, too, am interested in future workshops but will be heading out of town that afternoon.

  • Unfortunately, going into August is my busiest time of the year. It's next to impossible for me to break away three hours in the middle of the day. But I'll look forward to this if you hold it again in mid-September or after!

  • Kirk indeed is the man when it comes to getting VIP deals for Biznikers! I'll look forward to his next event. (More motocross would be good - hint, hint).

  • I used to create search advertising copy and keyword lists in my past life ;-) I am going to jump past your list and tell you what resonates with me based on my professional SEO experience and a very quick review of your site:

    • Experience working with businesses in Southern Oregon and Northern California. Keywords: Southern Oregon Web site design, Northern California Web site design, Bay Area Web site design
    • E-commerce and shopping cart experience. Keywords: Southern Oregon e-commerce, Northern California e-commerce, Bay Area e-commerce, e-commerce site design.
    • Marketing help - I especially liked your comment about avoiding jargon. Keywords: Southern Oregon marketing, Northern California marketing, Bay Area marketing.
    • Web site maintenance.
    • Web site performance. Keywords: Web site performance, possible with the addition of Southern Oregon, Northern California or Bay Area at the start of the phrase.
    • Travel Web sites (based on a few of your past clients).

I haven't tested all these for pricing or traffic. But honestly, a lot of your other keywords are ones that everyone uses. I think you need to focus on your knowledge of your geographic region plus your expertise in the big marketing picture and maintenance, because I've heard from a number of people who get design work done and then their designer falls off the face of the earth - with all their login information. This actually recently happened to one of my competitors.

I might include small business Web design, affordable Web design and custom Web design if the price was right. But you might want to use geographically-specific phrases there too.

  • Anyone heading to the event from the Redmond-ish area who has room for a carpooler? I wouldn't need a ride back, just there.

  • Daryl, you sound like fun! (Not that the rest of you don't). Which punk bar? Two of my quirkiest and funnest — yes, I know that's poor English usage but it works well anyway — gigs were:

    • Delivering everything from movies and munchies to beer and condoms to almost any personality type imaginable as a bike delivery grrl for Kozmo. Between hanging out with a bunch of boys on bikes and listening to drum 'n bass in the warehouse.
    • Hoisting downhill mountain bikes and alpine slides onto chairlifts all day as a summer liftie at Ski Bowl in Oregon. Between explaining to people how to step in front of a slowly-moving chair and sit down.
    • Then there's my current gig zipping around the Pacific Northwest and other worldwide locations, keeping odd hours, meeting "extreme" people and capturing it all with my camera.

  • Good luck with your interview and Flaxmonger and your possible relocation! I would love to try your products! I have not yet relocated my business but I plan to move to Canada in the future. All my research shows that you will have to get a separate work visa to also pursue your business — unless you get a skilled worker visa for your day job instead of being sponsored by your employer. Immigration Canada will be your best resource.

  • If I had to choose just one, commercial photography. If I could choose two, I'd add editorial photography. And my third would be extreme sports photography.

  • Justin's idea is fabulous. And Broadtexter could work if it was permission-based. Some people love text messages, so it would be a great messaging tool to reach them. I hate text messages and only use them when I'm out of the country for very short messages, to avoid roaming charges. (Or maybe for Justin's service). So I wouldn't be one of those target audience members for text advertising ;-)
