What Kat does
Body-centered psychotherapy is a quick and unique way into the psyche, the soma, and what is true and present in the moment. Specializing in anxiety-depression, trauma, loss, addiction and chronic illness, I help clients uncover the source of their "blockages," what's holding them back (connecting past and present issues), while strengthening their ability to integrate body-wisdom and feelings with intellectual insight, freeing up a fuller range of expression in relationship to self and others.
Classical yoga and meditation is still a huge inspiration in my life; 22 years as a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist has offered the relentless reminder that Ego is not a catalyst for healing and transformation, but with courage and commitment, one can find something deeper that is.
I've created a studio in West Seattle, the Four Aims Center, where I have a private counseling practice for individuals or couples, work with individuals interested in yoga therapy, and teach group yoga classes that offer lots of individual attention For yoga therapy I use tools that bring balance to the physical/structural, the physiology (sleep, digestion, women's issues, etc), mental-emotional (inquiry into the stories that rule us and our core psychic "tensions"), and the spiritual dimension, all according to an individual's needs and interests.
What Kat does best
Anything to do with the body, energy and consciousness: unlocking emotional expression, dealing with grief, intimacy issues, trauma, addiction, body-image, anxiety-depression, feeling stuck, feeling deadened, and so on. On a more esoteric level, I create practices that refine awareness of energy-consciousness, ie: the flowering of the human soul experience. (It's actually very practical!)
What does Kat need?
I am writing a book, and need clients with whom to practice some specific techiniques I'm developing. Beyond traditional talk-therapy, the Inquiry Process and the movement and/or yoga exercises I employ, I am interested in going deeper into body-energy meditations and visualizations, chakra work, inner character dialogues, and significant emotional expression. Reduction of fee offered in exchange. Please call to talk about whether these techniques might be the "correct" healing application or catalyst for you at this time in your life.
