  • Hi Rick, I'm with everyone else--this is a very helpful article, esp. for those of us that are perplexed or avoid the networking realty. As to mistake #4 (free stuff), since no one else has taken you up on your offer, I'd love to dialogue more (with anyone!) on that topic. In my line of work, we have very strict ethical considerations to observe. Thanks, Kat www.fouraims.com

  • Tips for improving emails news, and checking in with reader reaction, would be most helpful. So far, 3 of my fave biznik-ers are attending!

  • Welcome Kimberly, I viewed your online mag this morning, and commend you on your heartfelt inspiration to to connect with others what is important to you. You've obviously put alot of heart and thought and work into creating this, so, yay for you! Technically, I found the mag a little difficult to "use," in that the articles I was interested in reading wouldn't click on, while the ones with big pictures and shopping ideas did. Personally, I'm all about Content and do not respond hugely to typical American glitz advertising, so for me, a less jammed-packed/visual site would draw me in better (but I too am in the above-50 set) so that said, I guess the question is: who are you trying to reach? With my marketing endeavors, I always struggle with defining my best target audience, so I know that can be challenging. Anyway, best of luck to you, and hope you enjoy the holidays.

  • HI Angel, Down in West Seattle there's Endolyne Joe's that even has a room glassed off for parties. I've never seen it used, as the place is so big, it can accomodate all its dinner guests out front. Good to meet you last night at the Anti-office party, and hope you find a place. Kat

  • Spirituality and business, spirituality and practical matters, spirituality, ethics and holding to something sacred that can guide one's interactions and decisions (whatever that may be)...all of it is essential in upholding our end of the bargain. We came into human form to learn some deep stuff, especially during this increased evolutionary shift humankind is experiencing...And some are trying to apply it to every undertaking.

I heard such a beautiful story on NPR today, about a veteran of the Vietnam war, his getting introduced to Buddhist thought back then, and how, seeing the dualistic nature of normal human thinking, he strives to live each day with the awareness of the intrinsic Oneness of all things, even though, "hardly anyone knows what I'm talking about."

Seattle is the perfect place to explore spirituality in business, and get teased, condemned and/or applauded for the effort.

  • Quite frankly, overwhelmed. As a new Biznik member, I'm finding the that I cannot discover where to get my questions answered on the site. Ie: I don't even know what it means to have Biznik people in my network--how does it work, how does one decide? Where is there a Biznik 101 info page?

Also, I agree with those who have concerns that the Profile now looks like a popularity contest, even tho' I do understand the idea about keeping the page "fresh." I see so many of the same folks posting comments on different parts of the site, I start to question whether I have any place here as a true "beginner."

  • Truly, passion is key, I agree. You have to have the FIRE (3rd chakra) to be able to connect to anything, and you're right: "playfulness may come first for most people, then developing a sense of meaningful vocation and relating, then maybe serenity too."

So, to quote something off Todd's Profile-- "Improving attentional abilities and increasing a personal awareness of cultural technologies gets us innovating right where we are at, in any given moment, in a sustainable way."--how does this this create passion/fire, for you personally, as well as applying this to coaching situations?

  • I've been thinking of the connection you made between tantra and other "products", and feeling abit contrite for my dis-sing comment. You're right, the watered-down versions of products or ideas or teachings is an unfortunate aspect of American culture...trying to stay positive, I see it, as well, a pointer to real "thirst" (half pun intended). We are a hungry culture, but that isn't always a bad thing-- How in, marketing, to play to people's deeper thirst, that of finding meaningful connections in life.
