We often underestimate the toll that compounding daily stress can take on us, even to the point of failing to recognize how the hurried pace of our society impacts our body. While pain in our bodies can be the result of injuries or repetitive motion activities, it can also be caused by consistent, long-term stress that presents itself simply in how we hold our body each day.
Seeking to bridge the gap between treatment-oriented "medical" massage and the nurturing, relaxation focus of the spa experience, I work with each client to understand your needs, truly balancing and customizing each session. Your Elixir begins with a thorough intake and discussion so that I can learn about your daily routine, regular activities, any chronic pain or disorders you might experience, past injuries or surgeries that still cause you discomfort and, most importantly, what your goals are for your treatment.
My holistic approach is a blend of Deep Swedish, Myofascial Release, Acupressure, Ayurveda, Lomi Lomi and Polarity Energy Therapy. I believe in pain-free massage and warm up each area prior to performing any deep work: I find this allows for more effective treatment, as the pain response often results in an "armoring" reaction within your body and is not conducive to accessing deeper muscles and structures.
Because each session is delivered in full (i.e., a 90 minute Elixir means 90 actual minutes in session,) I often request that clients plan for 30 additional minutes to allow for intake and post-treatment discussion. [less]
