  • Friday May 15: "You Can Heal Your Life" Movie Matinee

Movie Matinee: You Can Change Your Life

Friday, May 15, noon - 3:00pm (including discussion time) on Queen Anne.

I got inspired to start watching my favorite films with my favorite girlfriends! (Not exactly a "chick flick," but a "Flick for Chicks!")

You Can Change Your Life is a film/documentary inspired by the life and work of Louise Hay, and narrated with a little help from her friends, such as Wayne Dyer Jerry and Esther Hicks (Abraham) Gregg Braden Christiane Northrup Doreen Virtue Gay Hendricks (and more)

We'll brown bag our lunches, and our hostess Nancy will have some tea and other beverages. I'll bring some "goodies."

There is no charge. Space is very limited; message me if you are interested, and I'll confirm and send the address.

    Thanks! Kate Phillips

  • Client Attraction

Topic for discussion: 1. What is your primary method (or methods) of finding and attracting clients?

    1. Have you altered or changed strategies because of the changes in the economy?

I'll start: 1) I am experimenting with different strategies myself. Two years ago, I did mainly group work through workshops, and a one-time class was my primary marketing tool.

Last year, I used a "Free Sessions that Sell" formula based on the one that Christian Mickelson teaches, as well as workshops, both free and paid.

In the last 6 months, my writing (articles and blog) have helped to attract some clients, also events I have hosted through Biznik. I also gained a client through some press coverage I received and a subsequent evening workshop I put on.

This year I stopped offering my sample sessions for free but sometimes run introductory session specials. I have also used workshops very intentionally to build my mailing list and testimonials through feedback forms at my biznik events.

    2) In response to the fears and perceptions around the economy and people's personal finances in general, I have allowed clients to work with me a month at a time, and have also resumed a couple of mutually beneficial barters.

I'm still "finding my way," testing and trying. Please share how you are attracting your clients!

  • Fantastic, Albert!

GREAT idea for a group! I was just thinking 2 days ago as I took a walk that there needed to be a group like this on Biznik.

I'm already running 2 other groups (The Wealthy Worthy and Wise group is specifically to support women in their relationship with money and abundance), so I am thrilled to see someone else step up to the plate. Plus, I am still a "learner" on this journey, so I'm grateful to have you (and Wally) as my guides!

  • What's YOUR topic!?

I am curious what people speak about! (Maybe there's an opportunity for this group to put on a seminar from the membership?)

I have spoken on Overcoming Financial Stress Women and Money (The Secrets of Millionaire Women) The G.R.A.T.I.T.U.D.E. Formula Goal-setting ("Dream Creation") Mind Over Money: The Beliefs that Determine Your Bottom Line "Money Styles" Dream Boarding/Collaging Money, Mission and Meaning Financial Strategies for Real Estate Agents Personal Development * How to put on Workshops

I also love doing "training," probably even moreso than speaking. By that, I mean workshops/ interactive group coaching/ integrating activities, not simply "speaking" to a passive audience.

    Who's next!?

  • You're invited to a class this Wednesday Afternoon (March 18)

I can't figure out how to post an already-posted event here, so heck, I'll just write it in a discussion!

This Wednesday, I'm hosting "Mind Over Money: Seven Beliefs that Determine Your Bottom Line" at the Mosaic Coffeehouse.

This class is for you if you are an entepreneur who feels you "should" be making more money than they are, and rather than (or in addition to) just blaming the economy and external circumstances, you'd like to explore how you can shift your INTERNAL circumstances to make way for success and prosperity!

In a lively presentation, we'll cover:

    • the Three Essential Elements of Financial Success

    • the Seven Beliefs that Determine Your Bottom Line

    • Why the Law of Attraction and Affirmations Don't Always Work!

    • How your Thoughts and Feelings about Money produce your Financial Results

    • the "Kurt Cobain Quandary" and how to avoid it

    • an overview of the B.E. W.E.A.L.T.H.Y. Formula for attracting more money and success

We'll start with introductions, so come prepared to give a brief "shameless brag" about your business.

Please go to the link for more details and to register for this FREE class: http://biznik.com/events/mind-over-money-the-seven-beliefs-that-determine-your-bottom-line

  • Wedding Music!

Ken, what a great idea for a group, thanks! I have managed to miss all of the wedding-type Biznik events, would love to keep posted on those.

A lot of folks on Biznik know me more as a coach or the Workshop 101 Woman, but I am also a professional singer, musician, and songwriter. I play a lousy wedding march (classical piano is a real stretch), but do sort of Sara MacLachlan-meets Shawn-Colvin-ish folk-pop.

If anyone needs a CUSTOM SONG for a wedding, I can also work with the couple in writing an original song. And I know quite a few other musicians; if I'm not the "right" one for the occasion, I might be able to refer someone. Which reminds me... I should go invite my other musician friends who like to do weddings to this group!

Who else does music for weddings out there? What's your style?

  • Businesses Without Borders - differentiating local from national/international businesses

As an ex-realtor and ex-restauranter, my clients and customers were local (or relocating, in which case they'd be searching for Seattle.)

As a coach, I can coach anyone with a phone who speaks English.

In the past, I've used coaches from California, Oregon, Vancouver BC and Toronto, ON. (And once I had a "local" coach.) The "fit" was important, the location - not!

I know the same is true for many business categories - tech fields, SEO, writing, marketing, etc etc....

When I go to the page for coaches (or any business category), I just see "local" coaches, which means that I can't search nationally, nor can others "find" me. (Yes, I can expand the search, but only to 500 miles.)

Do we need an option that expands broader? Should we have an option to specify whether our business (or our category) is local or national/international?

I'm curious if others have noticed this too, and have any bright ideas of how to solve it?

It seems the only way to reach outside our regions is to write articles, comment and post (and thus be found by others doing the same, which is a good idea in any case.)

But it occurs to me that other social media which don't label you according to location actually have one advantage over Biznik. (A good reason to Tweet and get Linked In, I guess.)

  • What will you commit to doing to make 2009 the best year yet in your business?

What one thing (two max!) will you commit to doing that will make a big difference in your business this year?

Are you willing to commit to it in front of God and Biznik and everybody? (We can check back and encourage each other to follow through and celebrate our successes!)

My commitment is to write articles/blog posts regularly. I'm aiming for 3 times a week ideally. (At least twice!) Oh, and those Tweets do NOT count!

This is just part of a larger strategy to build more visibility and traffic, but it's something simple and concrete. Another piece of it is this:

To offer a "free thing" on my website to increase sign-ups to my eNewsletter. I'm writing a special report on reducing financial stress that I hope to have available this week.

What will YOU do this year to make it the best yet?

  • Hello BizNik, Good-bye Weekend!

Wow, it is so good to be here! I've heard and read about BizNik and finally joined at the recommendations of friends.

So it's about midnight on Sunday, and I can't figure out where my weekend went... let's see, I was reading articles, looking for people I knew, checking out interesting-looking people I didn't know, working on my profile, editing an article to post, commenting on other posts... this is addictive! Is there a "BizNik Anonymous" meeting on the calendar?

    I have a coupla businesses...

I am a certified coach and workshop trainer, my main biz is Total Wealth Coaching. I help people think and feel differently about money. But money is never just about money... so the work is very integrative and delves into belief systems, emotions, self-concept, habits, etc. (I DON'T sell investment products or do financial planning, fyi.)

I especially love working with women in group settings, such as my 10-week "Living in Abundance" course, I facilitate that around Puget Sound a couple times a year. I also love working with realtors and other independent contractors. (I'm a recovering realtor, looking for a support group for that as well.)

In my other life, I am a singer-songwriter. People tell me I remind them of Sara MacLachlan, Vonda Shepard, Shawn Colvin with a piano... I've been writing songs for 25 years but just recently decided to take it seriously as a business. I released my first cd earlier this year and have plans for two more in the near future. (Let me know if there are any BizNik events at piano bars!)

I look forward to meeting and getting to know many of you! Kate Phillips Total Wealth Coaching http://thegardenofplenty.com www.katephillipsmusic.com www.myspace.com/katephillipsmusic
