What Kate does
I write food and travel articles for newspapers and magazines, and I edit manuscripts ranging from cookbooks to academic monographs. I have also written book introductions, brochures, text for Web sites, and other kinds of copy, mostly in the general field of food. I'm the restaurant critic for the Sacramento News and Review, a weekly paper (hence the lack of a picture--I have to stay anonymous lest local chefs are trying to spot me) and I write regional travel articles frequently for magazines including Sunset, Via, and Sactown. My work has also appeared in such publications as Cooking Light, All You, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Washington Post, and others. I also develop and test recipes for publication. I am an experienced developmental and copy editor as well, both for publishers and for private clients.
What does Kate need?
I am interested in meeting potential clients looking for writing, editing, or recipe development and testing. I'd love to network with others working in similar fields. And because all of a sudden it's 2008 and I forgot to put a website up (whoops), I am looking for a designer so I can get my portfolio online already.
