I posted the event for Saxon Pub at 7:00 this Saturday night April 5. Happy hour meet and greet and then Jenny takes the stage at 8:00... you are all invited and please invite other friends.
Hope to see you there.
Susan and MG, YOU ROCK! Thanks for taking the time to organize such an inspirational event with the urgency of life or death. Talking with the saints and the sinners at the Cemetery was FUN. Perhaps we could meet in that space again and continue the conversation?
I am particularly inspired to be 5 minutes early for all meetings AND to forgive myself within 5 minutes if I am not.
Also, I said that I would be in communication with ALL of my clients weekly and this week 3 of my clients have already CALLED ME... strange how that works.
Looking forward to many more large biznik gatherings... bring it! AHHH, I am remembering that I said I would post an event for Jenny's gig at Saxon Pub... I will do that now!
Thanks Susan, for a different way to dissect a commitment!
My kaizen for fitness is to simply put on my tennis shoes in the morning. The rest (exercise) either happens or it doesn't ... But it is amazing what I feel like doing when my tennis shoes are on! My challenge has been the 60 second limit.
How is everyone else doing?
Kare, You missed a GOOD one. Really a lot of very scary business sharing. I was on the edge of my seat.
We ARE getting to know each other, and more business, I am sure, will be the productive Kaizen by-product of the fun we had... GHOST stories.
My friends have experienced real not real beings from another time and it is FREEEAKY! SCARY! FUN!
I do not think I have had that much fun hanging out with a glass of wine and friends just talking in ages. Scary. I actually had the hair on the nape of my neck standing on end.
Just so you know, Karrie, Penny saging her house the morning after being scared shitless is not necessarily a GOOD thing.
And Jenee cleaning her "portals" ... it was wild!
Great article for three reasons:
Thanks!

Hi Phil,
Welcome to Austin! Love to meet you ... I am a designer of buildings and realtor. We are organizing a happy hour for January and there is a meeting at Jade Leaves January 23 if you want to check out that event. Kimberly
The City of Austin has a Green By Design workshop coming up February 9 and if you are new to Austin, it may benefit you to get involved in their programs. http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%20Efficiency/Programs/Green%20Building/Resources/GreenByDesign/index.htm
The City of Austin offers many great resources if you are interested in sustainable and green... check out their resources here http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%20Efficiency/Programs/Green%20Building/Resources/index.htm
The Sustainable Building Coalition is another group that would benefit you to be involved with for contacts and resources. They have workshops and offer many resources including a sustainable building materials exchange that you may be interested in utilizing. FYI, their web site is not always current. http://www.greenbuilder.com/sbc/
Looking forward to learning about the small steps that will keep me on track in 2008 and also connecting with some more Austin Bizniks.
Thanks Susan!
Also, just so everyone knows, Jade Leaves will have a menu available for us in addition to the tea... perfect location for exploring Kaizen!
Kimberly
I will send you a message now to your profile... NXNW is not going to work as you need quiet space. Penny and I found another place... better for your event on the 23rd.
Second event in Austin was small and successful. 4 RSVPs and 4 people showed up, so that is great with only 3 days warning on the event.
Austin is determined to have at least one event a month now that Karrie has kicked things off in November and, even though we are all slammed with the holiday planning, 4 Bizniks showed up... plus me the host. So I declare we are moving forward in Austin.
We have another event planned for January and I think that 2008 will start to bring us multiple monthly events and also more Austin members.
200 Austin members by Dec. 31 2008...We can do it if you tell 3 friends and they tell 3 friends... Please encourage your Austin friends to become members and come to our events.
FUN.
Kimberly
Thanks Penny, Christa, Kerry and Jenny for making it a GREAT happy hour last night.
We toasted a lot and I shared 3 tips for Toasting the Holidays. Please post some more comments here after you return from toasting ... how did the tips work out and did they allay fears or help with confidence? Remember, sense of humor is key to a great toast...don't get all serious and heavy AND... brevity is king.
We all shared what we need in the coming year for our businesses... and we also could see areas where we can help each other.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the January events and hearing stories of your Holiday toasts.
Kimberly
Christa, Looking forward to finally meeting you. I think your services could really help Realtors when we find a smelly house.
Love to meet Eduardo... please ask him to become a Biznik member and RSVP... the more the merrier.
We need to find a santa hat for penny... just for tomorrow night.
Brianna,
Karrie Kohlhaas is excellent for business coaching/life coaching/seriously working through things... check out her profile. She is all about breakthrough results increasing effectiveness and efficiency.
I am not sure she trades, but it is worth a try.
Good luck. Kimberly
SPONTANEOUS Second Austin Biznik gathering has been scheduled for Thursday, December 13 at 6pm at the Red House. Event has been submitted for posting and should show up soon, so, please come!
We will be scheduling more events for 2008 EARLY so that you can add to your schedule. Please, if anyone wants to schedule or host an event, send me a message if you want help.
Kimberly
good idea about taking the pressure off... but all of these ideas interest me.
one thing i have been thinking about is getting the actual "presenting" part down to 15-20 minutes... have you seen that in Seattle? and then just have a happy hour after that.
you said earlier that there are some trix to posting a hosting... could you post them here, or do you have to talk walk me through it?
kimberly
I would also like to host a couple of panel discussions with the other BIznik Realtors ... it would be for all Bizniks, but the Realtors would be discussing what they ACTUALLY see happening in the market NOW, HERE. We could discuss recent popular market terminology and field questions. I am thinking 3 realtors and then 6 or 7 Bizniks and after 45 minutes to an hour we could have a beverage and discuss other stuff.
another idea for an event that i would love to host called "preforeclosure, foreclosure, short sale...primer on what the seller needs to know NOW and how the smart, prepared buyer can benefit." given what is happening in the market around the US, this may be a great event to host sooner than later, but i actually only know one person in potential pre-foreclosure now, so Austin bizniks, please let me know if this one interests you or if it is timely for anyone.
