Green Cleaning Product Comparison

You will love these green cleaning products!

This is a pretty useful article for people transitioning into eco-friendly cleaning.  There are many more brand names to choose from at your local whole foods, pcc & even Fred Meyer or online.

According to my favorite online encyclopedia, Wikepedia, a Fad is something that is very popular with a small group of people for a short period of time. So when does a Fad turn into a Trend? A Trend is something that becomes popular within mainstream society over a long period of time. It is the direction of a sequence of events that has some momentum and durability. So has going “Green” turned from a fad into a trend? The answer is most definitly yes!

I guess you know when Green has turned into a trend when Clorox puts out a biodigradable bathroom cleaner. The next time you’re in the cleaning isle at the grocery store you might notice that something different has appeard next to the Soft Scrub and 409. You see it, a “Green” cleaning alternative. It begs to be tested by you! So you reach for it and think, “Could this possibly work as good as the other stuff?” Well, the fact is that there are many products to choose from. To make sense of it all, here are some product reccomendations so you don’t waste your money or time figuring out what really works!

All Purpose Cleaner:

Seventh Generation VS Simple Green

Both are very effective on countertops & other surfaces. Seventh Generation prides itself on disclosing the ingrediants of their cleaners. On the contrary Simple Green says that their formula is a “Trade Secret” so no one really knows what that green stuff is. One good thing about Simple Green is that it comes in a concentrated form so there is a big bang for your buck.

Glass Cleaner:

Clorox Green Works VS CitraClear VS Vinegar & Water

No matter how much I use, no matter if I use a rag or paper towel, the Citra Clear & the Clorox leaves streaks every time. 1/2pt Vinegar 1/2pt water cleans glass & surfaces the best of all!

Laundry Detergent:

Ecos VS Mrs Meyers

Ecos is the winner hands down. Double the loads means double the value. Ecos is a highly effective laundry detergent without any of the ecologicaly damaging components such as chlorine, phosphates & petroleum based ingrediants. Mrs Meyers is a very good detergent but it’s expensive and the company doesn’t use the term Non-Toxic because some of they’re ingrediants are, well, Toxic.

 Stainless Steel Cleaner:

Method VS Simple Green Stainless

Simple Green stainless cleaner is awesome! The key is to use a clean rag, buff with a dry one and go with the grain of the metal. Method stainless steel cleaner leaves my refrigerator streaky and won’t get the water stains off of my dishwasher. Simple Green has really mastered it’s formula, even on stainless steel. Please remember when using any cleaner to spot test an inconspicuous area first.

Hard Water Stains:

This is one that hs me stumped!  In fact if anyone knows of an all natural product that removes hard water stains and soap scum I will pay you $25 bucks!

The next time you’re shopping for cleaning products at the store reach for something Green. Your enviornment will thank you for it!
