  • In following up with people online (through LinkedIn, Biznik, an Facebook) it has brought my last five new clients, resulting in more revenue than the previous eight clients together, and two new collaborators.

This is the new way to do business. It works! Thanks for the great topic, and the fantastic Biznik platform.

  • This was a wonderful session, with a lot of great energy in the room.

Bottom line tips can be emailed if you didn't take notes.

We all sell, and in these economic times, it is smart to re-learn (or learn) about the basics.

  • Joy, it was a pure pleasure. This goes to show that no matter what the turnout, the right people show up. Without an expectation of a turnout minimum, it removes all the stress - and because of our meeting, our take-away is that we will both be accomplishing something now that we can support each other on!

  • In preparation for this great session, feel free to connect with one of my alliance partners and friends, fellow Biznik Jeanette Nyden. She is an attorney and also has a consulting business which helps small companies negotiate with big companies. I highly recommend her.

Sounds like this will be a great session!

  • Hi Ellen, thanks for your note. I have just changed the venue to Boundary Bay Brewery on Railroad Ave. since they will be open at 4PM - I'll have a table and a Biznik sign on the table -

If a few of us order appetizers - or dinner - they will be very pleased to have us there.

Since returning from Sales Shebang I am full of ideas and looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday!

  • I am at Sales Shebang right now and it has been phenominal. One more day to go. My presentation on Strategic Alliances and YAMCTYK (Yam-citic - the WAY to get things done) is tomorrow. Can't wait to share the best of the best with those who attend.

  • Trina, that lesson is one which seems more difficult to learn when you are just starting a business as compared to later when your business is established.

When I first started I had zero revenues. My word of mouth hadn't begun. I offered many varied services to generate cash. There is a time when cash generation is the main priority - however, even with that I never would work with customers that I didn't respect, or people I didn't want to be around. I had done that in corporate.

Over time, now in the seventh year of my business, learning to focus on my strengths is something I adapted in the last couple of years.

It is a treat and a reward for a business owner to find others who love to do those projects and aspects of your business that you don't like, and that take you longer - and most importantly - away from your core business focus.

  • good to hear, Eric! I saw a number of folks lingering in the parking lot - so much to think about and so many ideas being sparked.

    Tshombe, wonderful photos!!!

  • Well - lots to think about regarding the venue. I did have wood fired pizza on my mind! Because of the timing I thought it good to do something food related - but am open.

Bliss, glad you can attend - and it is great to have a continuation of business building ideas, which will be my focus.

  • Jeckyl & Hyde is closed at 4PM on Tuesdays so we need to find another venue for this event - any suggestions?

  • Meredith - no kidding about Lara & Dan. One reason I like to see small business owners attend the "Networking the Biznik Way" event is to see two passionate people who took an idea and ran with it - building it into something that really IS changing the way we network.

Drew, glad you liked the event. Since we both went to the "New Word of Mouth Marketing" conference last week - we should compare notes on that too.

  • Hello to everyone who attended this wonderful event.

What I wanted to say and what I eluded to in the previous note (above) is that as a business and sales consultant, clients all want to know how to increase revenues and grow business.

The best way to be authentic and feel rewarded is to do this through relationship building - and in Biznik's collaborative (not competitive) environment it is so easy.

What a great bunch of folks to get together. Let's do it again soon! I think Dan and Lara would have to rate Bellingham Bizniks as fun folk!

  • Thanks Tshombe, yep - I get paid to consult with companies on growing their business and the Biznik principles of collaboration is something everyone can easily integrate into their business.

    See you tonight!

  • Thanks, Brandi. I guarantee anyone's investment that they will get much more value than their dollar investment, and we will do an exercise that, if nothing else, will rock their world when it comes to abundance thinking!

Posted 4 weeks ago The Highlights of Sales Shebang + Strategic Alliances Best Practices hosted by Lori Richardson
  • Hey everyone, this is going to be a rockin event. Please encourage someone who is independent running their own business or a small business to join Biznik and attend - hearing Dan and Lara explain the concepts of Biznik and the power of the Biznik community will really inspire and educate.

Tshombe and I would love to see at least 20 more attendees - so please think of who might be interested in expanding their network through collaboration - and please invite them to attend. Call me if you have any questions - you can get my contact info through my profile, and THANKS for your support.

  • Molly, this is a great topic. I am a real visual learner, and when I started taking a coaching program by teleconference, man did I have a hard time in the beginning.

Then I became a telecall leader, and found great joy connecting to those NOT in my local area - so keep in mind, Biznik pals, that you could still meet people in person who are local and add in the flavor of far-away Bizniks - case in point: Fabulous speaker Michael Port is coming to Vancouver BC in a few days. I had this notion that if he could do a tele-call with Dan and Lara then a number of local (Seattle/Bellingham/Vancouver BC) folks might want the heads up that he was coming here from the East Coast to do four different presentations and workshops. The connection an calls didn't happen - however it could with other internationally-known folks.

And I have learned how to better focus when on a telecall (I have a short attention span) especialy now that I am 90 miles North of where I used to live and call in to many meetings.

  • Paul, I second what Tshombe said - we were all learing about communicating with others - and I loved how everyone seemed to feel successful at "selling" when the night was over - since we all do sell every day... (many people call it something else) - what most people really don't like is "bad" selling - the high pressure, sleazy stuff - and it is great to see a presentation that focuses on the admirable type of selling that is all about being an agent of change.

Your exercises were great, and I am pleased to know now how to better refer you.
