What Margaret does

I work with my clients on anything from depression, addiction, anxiety and artistic expression to relationships. I have a strengths-based approach with a focus on resiliency. I like to find out what my clients excel at and help them use these skills to improve more challenging parts of their lives. In session, I help my clients identify and articulate the sources of their thoughts and feelings; this knowledge empowers them to change and grow. When it comes to relationships, I work with people to improve communication and understanding; I often find that people are more "on the same page" than they realize. Art therapy is an invaluable tool that I integrate into my work, and humor is a must.

I can honestly say that I love what I do. It's both gratifying and humbling to witness such special growth, movement and success in my clients.

What Margaret does best

I really love working with group dynamics and relationships. I help people name and understand their struggles so that they can be overcome. I connect well with my clients and establish a strong therapeutic relationship (the key to a successful outcome). I work really well with children and families. I've found a lot of positive outcomes with people that everyone else has given up on.

What does Margaret need?

I'm interested in increasing my caseload and I'd appreciate referrals. I'm also interested in networking with those associated with the music industry since a niche I'm developing is counseling bands and musicians.

Education

I received my M.A. in Psychology at Antioch University Seattle. I had concentrations in the areas of Couple, Child, and Family therapy as well as Art Therapy. I attended UC San Diego for my undergraduate degree where I studied psychology, visual arts, and sociology.

Experience

In addition to my private practice, I currently work at an in-home family services agency. I primarily provide counseling to families with foster children and parent training. Additionally, I have considerable experience working with children and families in a number of different organizations. I have also held various positions in the private sector.
