Using my knowledge, experience and intuition for human/machine interaction, I identify the best approach for my clients that fit the limitations of the project, as, lets be honest, all projects are limited somewhere; be it budget, deadline, audience, type of software and hardware already deployed, target device and so on... a project without limits is simply a folly that will never be finished.
Much of my best work has come about from taking a strategic view and extending existing brands into the digital realm using technologies such as Quicktime and Flash to deliver a memorable experience.
Currently, a pet project is delivering enhanced content to the iPhone and iPod touch, an example of which can be seen at (http://iheima.com/) (a film trailer page for Icelandic band Sigur Rós). Viewed on the iPhone it gives a very tailored experience compared to the browser (try flipping orientation).
I am just at home designing someone's home or business network that needs something a bit special as I am designing a highly branded web presence for an audience of millions.
My design ethos is simple:
- Why have many buttons when one will do.
- Refactor and simplify until it's as little as it needs to be as anything more is too much.
- If something is working right, then you shouldn't notice it working at all.
I lean more towards Apple and Linux than Microsoft, more my own path than the crowd's and more groove than funk (if you understand what i mean, we could work well together!).
My work has won a number of awards, including two Webby awards, a number of Digital Music Awards in the UK and an Apple Design Award.
