What Matt does

I run a small company called Jet City Devices that repairs broken cell phones. This helps our customers, both individuals and businesses, because repairing an existing phone is much less expensive than buyin g a new one. Our current repair offering includes new cell phone screens, USB charging/data port repairs, new cases, keyboards, and more. Our top brands include the AT&T Tilt, T-Mobile Dash, Blackberry Curves, and we've recently added the Apple iPhone.

We have also begun to cell accessories and spare parts on through our site and will soon be offering new/used/refurbished phones as well as cell phone unlocking.

Our goal is to become one of the premier spots online for cell phone repairs as well as everything else cell phone related.

What Matt does best

In my current business I do a great job of repairing broken cell phone screens. I think I also do a pretty good job of customer and vendor relations, shipping and handling, and programming my websites front and back end. Basically, I like to think I'm good at running a small business.

Experience

12/2008 - Present
CEO of Jet City Devices, LLC
This is a company I started as a part-time company in late 2007 to learn about building an online company as well as to make a few extra dollars. It has become successfull enough to warrant my full-time attention and efforts. I currently manage and maintain the website, handle all advertising, do the customer service, source parts, and do the repairs themselves.

3/2007 - 12/2008
Self-employed Web Developer
Design and build both the front and backends of websites. This can include building them from scratch or editing an existing site.

2/2003 - 3/2007
Microsoft Developer
Worked on a number of products including Window Media Center and MSN Messenger. Responsibilities included development using C++/C# and COM. Worked with project managers and other developers to come up with innovative solutions to complex problems.

9/1999 - 12/2002
University of Wisconsin - Madison
While in graduate school, I worked as both a TA and lecturer. This including teaching a class on operating systems to over 200 undergraduates over the course of my last year there. I received the Computer Science departments TA of the year in 2002.

9/1999 - 12/2002
Restaurant Waiter
Waited tables for extra cash while going to graduate school. Anyone that doesn't think this is an incredibly valuable experience, hasn't had to smile at demanding customers after having a long day of classes.

8/1996 - 8/1999
Technical Sales Engineer
I managed sales accounts for all of southern Minnesota for a company that sold high-tech robotics and automation equipment.
