What Michael does
With over 20 years in the software field, I've recently been teaching new programming languages to programmers. I'm partial to Perl (call me a Perl Evangelist) for its expressiveness.
What Michael does best
See connections that others don't. I connect ideas, people, and words. It's how my brain works.
Learn quickly. I'm good at being "parachuted in", exploring the "landscape", and learning the technology, lingo, and people.
Explore. I'm curious.
What does Michael need?
Local work: something I can walk, bike, bus, or drive to. Flying around the country isn't as interesting to me as the folks and opportunities in my own back yard.
With empathy for both, I'm very good at collaborating with users and developers.
Education
In a previous lifetime:
- BS - Physics, Computer Science, Math
- MS - Electrical and Computer Engineering
Recently: life. Really! My library card and affiliations with local networking/professional groups has provided more education than much of my formal education. I'm currently focused on how brains work, and how folks learn.
Experience
Sole-proprietor of software training and development company for over a decade. Various consulting gigs as developer, technology consultant, software analyst, and technical project manager.
Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Labs during some of their last good years.
