  • SEO And Flash Question

I redid my website last year. I took my web developers advice and had the whole site built in Flash. It is beautiful and gets compliments all the time from people who see it. Now I am realizing that a Flash website doesn't get high rankings in search engines. So I must be missing a lot of business from all the people that don't see it. It doesn't even show up in google for Seattle florists.

I added a blog to help with SEO, but most people that read the blog aren't also going back to my primary web site.

What feedback is out there on how to improve the search engine rankings of an all Flash site? I am not able to rebuild the site at this time but am looking for ideas to improve the ranking of the existing site. When I do rebuild it, I am thinking of having only the photos in flash and not the rest of the site.

    Here are the links:

    Thanks for your help!

  • Biznik Really Works! - A Testimonial

If you are considering whether or not to join Biznik, let me tell you about my experience. I finished my profile one week ago. My profile already ranks higher than my own website (Fiori Floral Design) in searches for "Seattle Florist." Before the end of the week, I had received my first order that was a direct result of someone who found me on Biznik! I know this because I ask every new customer how they found me.

I also use Google Analytics to track how people find my website. (If you have your own website and love this kind of data, I can't recommend this free service enough!). In the first week my site received 9 hits from 7 different potential clients who found it through Biznik. They came from all over the world: Seattle, Redmond, Mercer Island, Los Angeles, India and Canada.

If you are wondering if Bizniks really works, you should give it a try. I can say it really does! Now if only my web developer could get me as highly ranked in search engines as my Biznik profile...

  • Greetings from Miles Johnson

Hello bizniks. I am the owner of Fiori Floral Design, a studio florist in Seattle. What is a studio florist, you ask? Instead of a retail store, I work in a studio space creating beauty to share with the world. We don't sell flowers by the stem or any of our beautiful vases, just finished floral arrangements and orchids that I pot up and dress personally.

By not having a retail space, it allows me and my staff to focus on creating arrangements of striking beauty. We use only premium flowers like cymbidium orchids, hydrangeas, roses, peonies and unusual elements like cockscomb celosia, fern curls and fruit. Yes, fruit! We love the way it provides texture and fragrance to our floral arrangements. You will rarely find carnations in our studio and never baby's breath.

Our style is distinctly different from traditional loose and airy styles. Our specialty is the French style of design called pave, where all of the flowers are tucked in closely together so the arrangement looks different from every angle.

For those wanting to learn how to create arrangements for themselves, we offer floral design classes that are informative an a lot of fun. At the end of the class, you take home a beautiful floral that you have created. Our students are constantly amazed at what they can do with a little guidance.

We work with a color palette that changes weekly. We were all about lavender and brown last week. This week we found some of the season's first tulips in an orange and red combination that inspired us to plan our palette around them. This constantly changing palette allows us to create temporary works of art that are different every week.

We do weekly floral arrangements for businesses like Cartier, Wild Ginger and Triple Door and individuals (including a certain Microsoft co-founder). We also offer daily delivery of beautiful gifts of flowers from Everett to Olympia and can have fine flowers delivered anywhere in the world for you through our invitation only network of fine florists.

We offer full service floral and decor for weddings and events. I have decorated weddings from Hood Canal to Semiamoo Resort on the border with Canada to SunCadia Resort in Eastern Washington. I always tell brides that we will take care of every detail for you except cooking the food!

Take a look at our website to see what makes us different: www.fiorifloraldesign.com.

I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you.
