Over the course of his career as a coach and educator, Norm Burgos has played an important role in enriching the lives of many young athletes. In his current role as the Executive Director of the Burgos Tennis Foundation, Norm Burgos maintains direct responsibility for all of the foundation's work, including community outreach programs, individual and team training, and youth mentoring services. Over the course of his career as a coach and educator, Norm Burgos has played an important role in enriching the lives of many young athletes. In his current role as the Executive Director of the Burgos Tennis Foundation, Norm Burgos maintains direct responsibility for all of the foundation's work, including community outreach programs, individual and team training, and youth mentoring services. Norm Burgos established the foundation in 1998. Prior to fully investing himself in his foundation's work, Norm Burgos was the physical education teacher and head tennis coach of Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. Norm Burgos demonstrated significant skill in his work both inside and outside of the classroom. As a teacher, Norm Burgos was well liked by his students and the administration, receiving multiple commendations, including the 2006 Elizabeth Terwilliger Award for Excellence in Teaching. As a coach, Norm Burgos showed similar ability, leading his players to great individual and team success in both local and statewide competitions. In addition to working as the Phys. Ed. teacher for Tamalpais High School, Norm Burgos held the position of Physical Education & Health Facilitator for the Tamalpais Union High School District. In this role, Norm Burgos dictated physical education policies and managed budgetary issues for the five high schools in the district. Norm Burgos' additional responsibilities included developing local business partnerships, spearheading grant writing and fundraising initiatives, and coordinating training sessions for staff development. Prior to beginning his teaching career, Norm Burgos received his teaching certification from San Francisco State University. Norm Burgos had previously completed his Bachelor's degree at Pepperdine University with additional course work taken at Moorpark College. At both schools, Norm Burgos was a high achieving student and a member of the men's tennis team.
