  • My body is in Asheville, NC but my dreams are in Nicaragua!

I'm home with the kitty while my husband is in San Juan del Sur, surfing and checking out the yoga resort where we are holding a Nia Fitness, Yoga and adventure retreat next spring! Who wants to come?!

People may say "Nicaragua?!" with a look of fear on their face.... but it is the safest country in Central America, lower crime rate than Costa Rica. Ethical Traveler rates Nicaragua in the Top 10 places to visit. If you've been to Nicaragua, I'd love to hear about your experience.

  • Want to talk with clothing designers

I'm still hoping someone will reply to my first post yesterday, asking for feedback on promoting my fitness adventure in Nicaragua... However, now I have another question. I'm thinking about designing clothing using organic cotton and other natural materials. I'd like to hear from others who've designed clothes, some advice. I have some connections for fabric from both USA and China, and will be taking a free business plan workshop at my local community college. In addition to being a dancer/fitness teacher, I have a degree in art and graphic design. No skill in sewing... and no experience in manufacturing. Is it possible to manufacture in the US and be priced competitively? Is it possible I could make this a cottage industry for seamstresses?

  • Promoting fitness adventure - your suggestions please

Hi I just introduced myself in the newbie area, and want to post my question here too.

I'm a fitness instructor (Nia, which is a very fun blend of movement arts); My husband and I, along with a friend who teaches yoga, are planning a trip to surf paradise in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua next March 09. I've made the deposit at a wonderful yoga-retreat resort and will need to collect payments then forward the $ total to the facility a month before our retreat. Since I am not a tour operator or travel agent, I'd like suggestions as to how to make people feel confident and comfortable sending me their payments. And how to protect myself from any possible snafus in collecting money. Thanks in advance!

  • Fitness adventure in Nicaragua - and question for solopreneurs

Hi Biznikians I'm a newbie here. I'm an instructor of the Nia Fitness Technique, and am planning a super fun group trip to San Juan del Sur in March 2009. We'll be dancing, doing yoga, surfing, relaxing, canopy zip-lining etc. Please see my site www.niawave.blogspot.com and consider joining us!

A question for you fellow entrepreneurs: this is the first group travel package I've put together. I'm not a tour operator. I'm a super honest person, but what would make strangers feel comfortable sending me money for this trip? And what's the best way to protect myself in the process of collecting the payments? Thanks! (PS to all you Seattle members, I grew up in Issaquah and Bellevue. It's nice to be connected to "home" through this network)
