  Layali Banat - A New Years Day Dance Party!

  Tuesday, January 1, 2013, 2:30-5PM $5 12015 NE 8th St., #3, Bellevue. Grab a girlfriend, sister, mother, or aunt by the hand and come experience Arab dance in the setting of its roots — women celebrating with each other! Bring a snack to share (water, lemonade, and mint tea will be provided) and a pillow for sitting on the floor. The afternoon includes a short performance featuring Zulaika followed by open dancing to CDs of popular Arabic tunes. Zulaika will provide a short dance lesson so women new to the dance can join the fun. Women and girls of all ages are welcome. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Layali Banat (Arabic for Girls’ Night) is an evening of hospitality, entertainment, and festivity reminiscent of a Middle Eastern woman’s party. Women of all ages are invited to bring a snack to share, a beverage of their choice, and a pillow for sitting on the floor. The evening will start with a short performance featuring Zulaika and students followed by open dancing to CDs of popular Arabic tunes. Attendees will be treated a short lesson on women’s Khaliji (Persian Gulf) dancing using the beautiful dancing dress Thobe Nashal and basic belly dance steps, then dance to the latest Arabic beats.
