  • You're so right, Roland. The breadth of human personality, potential and (let's face it) dysfunction is mindblowing and there's no one approach that's going to bring all of the people all of the time into a healthy and productive workplace mood.

    In fact, ironically, recently I've been coaching a senior manager to STOP letting his staff bust his chops so often. And I heard the most ridiculous practise from another department manager I coached last month who told me a consultant brought his team together, politely made him leave then for the next hour had his staff of 13 dump all of their gripes on his 2 Team Leaders. Can you imagine being them?? He had to pick up the pieces of that one and he's still doing it months later...

    You can take anything to the extreme, and it's usually not good.

  • I actually read this a week ago, and used this only a day ago. Thanks Pamela! This has always been a stressful matter for me and it doesn't feel that bad anymore. I think I just needed permission to take my time and the suggestion to take that breath from the diaphragm is incredibly helpful!
