Hello. I have been a working professional photographer for 20 years. Based in the Washington, DC area, I have traveled all over the country and the Caribbean photographing people places and things. Every photo presents a unique situation which is what keeps the work interesting. I have been challenged by things as diverse as a Boeing 757 that had to be shot at night but had to look like it was during the day, to a bunch of tiny blue arrow frogs which, surprisingly, are poisonous enough to kill a full grown male adult human being.

Hello. I have been a working professional photographer for 20 years. Based in the Washington, DC area, I have traveled all over the country and the Caribbean photographing people places and things. Every photo presents a unique situation which is what keeps the work interesting. I have been challenged by things as diverse as a Boeing 757 that had to be shot at night but had to look like it was during the day, to a bunch of tiny blue arrow frogs which, surprisingly, are poisonous enough to kill a full grown male adult human being.

While I relish the challenges of photographing objects large and small, I really enjoy photographing people. Recently I have been photographing a lot of pregnant couples primarily because we are expecting our first child, but I have always found the interplay of personality, light, and photographer to be something that keeps me guessing and frequently surprises me. I have found that people have very different personalities in front of the camera than in normal life. Often, the toughest, most scary CEO is the most self conscious person in the room once you point a lens at him, and the person who seems pretty quiet and reserved is frequently the person who suggests something totally outrageous and goes through with it.

In the end, photography is about light and living in a given moment. Sometimes it requires a lot of advance work to set up an image, sometimes the image just pops up and smacks you across the back of the head. [less]
