Remember the saying: Slow and steady wins the race? That's my Twitter philosophy in terms of followers. But the slow can definitely be helped legitimately.

I absolutely agree that employers should coordinate with their employees to present the company messages on Twitter.

Are you on Twitter? (I'm @ZimblerMiller on Twitter.) It's deceptively simple, but can be extremely effective if done correctly.

Joe -- I like your blog post reply, although I'm not sure I agree with you about people in business for themselves needing to blog.

For some people blogging would be a huge time chore. For others blogging would be simple. So a person has to judge his or her own time commitment before starting a blog.

Chris -- Excellent suggestion to Google yourself on a regular basis. Then if you do find something embarrassing (that someone else has posted, of course) there are steps you can take to push that item down in the rankings.

Of course, the best advice to follow is to try to never do anything stupid in the first place.

Teens particularly do not understand that something they post today will still be on the internet 5-10 years from now when these teens are applying to internships and jobs.
