I like the idea about putting the bar code on your card, but i would have to disagree about creating simple cards versus flashy ones.

I think it is important to make your marketing materials stand out and your business card is about as crucial a marketing piece as they come so i think that creating a strong visual image with your card is important to getting people to call you, because i don't really care if someone puts my info in the computer if they call me and the job of my card is to generate that contact.

Anyway, you make some valid points but i think ultimately a well designed card is going to catch more peoples attention then a card thats easy to scan. Just my 2 cents.

I could definitely help with the xhtml/css side of development, unfortunately if she is looking for PHP/MySQL or other heavy programming work I'm afraid I'm still looking for a reliable coder myself. Great ideas, in my web design business we are using craigslist religiously although i hadn't thought about posting the rotating ads like you described, i am looking forward to implementing that. Thanks so much for the ideas.

Another great way to get business on craigslist is to visit the "wanted" and "barter" sections of your area and answer peoples ads that are looking for your services. Again its a bit of a time investment but its been worth it for us.
