We keep on making the same mistake and regretting it. I'm too the point that I want to interview each person we allow into our office space and coworking space. When I do try to intervene and tell people our product is not what they need or want, they tell me I'm not customer oriented. So many situations are like someone walking in to a Chinese restaurant and wanting to order French food.

The last time we hit the fiscal cliff the US found it's debt down-graded. I don't see us getting down-graded again, but in the absence of a meaningful resolution to the revenue and spending issues we face the economy could be in deep weeds for some time to come.
Health care is a mess. We need to address cost before we worry about who's going to pay for it.

Great session John.
Entrepreneurs looking collaboration and feedback need to join in. Successful entrepreneurs are skilled at surrounding themselves with people vital to the success of their business. This is a good place to start.

Hard to believe that this started out as a discussion on Mayor Bloomberg's banning biggie sized sodas. It is the same thing, however, how much of your life do you want the government in charge of. You can't fire the government or change suppliers.
I would have liked to see the Affordable Health Care Act address the affordability of health care. It didn't. The US already spends as much GDP per capita publicly as countries with socialized medicine. We then top it off with a like amount privately. The problem isn't who's paying for it, it's how much it cost.

I suspect that is just the tip of the iceberg of unintended consequences.

Nothing surprises me in politics anymore. I wouldn't have any problem with the Affordable Health Care Act if it addressed the affordability of health care and wasn't just a huge expnsion of the federal government. As usual, the government insured that all of the special interest can now count on getting paid for their services. Doctors, lawyers, hospitals and the entire health care industry can now thank the government for insuring that the cost of health care can keep going up. The insurance companies being the sacrificial lambs. Crazy.

Not to mention the millions of new health care workers/voters beholding to the government for their living.

Thank you for your comment John. You made some excellent points. School lunches are a legitimate area for the Mayor to execute his agenda. Dictating what fast food we can and cannot buy, may seem funny at the time, but it is an insidious intrusion into personal liberty. We have to ask if it's Big Gulps today, what about tomorrow?

Is there anything we do in life that doesn't have the potential for negative consequences?

That it did Nadir. Maybe there will be a compromise. Similar to the warning on packs of cigarettes, a biggie sized drink, tripple burger or any other dietary excess could come with a little mirror with a caption "Are you sure you want to do this?"

I can remember seeing that my favorite sub at Jersey Mike's was around 1,400 calories. I feel real guilty ordering one, but don't do it every week. My choice, not the government's. They do work for us don't they?

I'd like to think that the number of people that the nuber of people that will take advantage of the added services available at at small brick and mortar store and then buy online to save money are roughly equivalent to the number of hapless consumers that will walk into a brick and mortar store needing no service and pay a premium. That would make it all kinda fair.
Capitalism is not about fair necessarily. Conventional marketers need to develop hooks to keep their customers. If you want help doing that call me. Otherwise, let the seller beware.
