What Rina does
As a divorce and family mediator, I work with couples and families to find solutions to disagreements and conflict in their marriage, domestic partnership, divorce, relationship dissolution, sibling relationships, will contests, estate planning, elder care planning, and family business.
My role is facilitative: I clarify and organize details, prompt discussion and cooperative communication, encourage creative problem solving and manage conflict. Unlike arbitrators and judges, I do not make decisions. The parties know best what will work most effectively for their situation!
What Rina does best
I am a skilled and exerienced mediator with a deep understanding of the human costs of litigation (e.g., the loss of self-determination, privacy and opportunities for healing). I provide compassionate and skilled guidance, assisting even entrenched parties to work collaboratively on resolving their conflict. I coach my mediation clients on communication skills and empathic listening and encourage them to create new frameworks for determing what they would regard as a fair outcome of mediation. My practice is devoted to family mediation, including marital mediation, divorce mediation, adult sibling mediation, estate mediation, elder mediation, family business mediation-- essentially, mediation for any conflict arising out of a family relationship.
What does Rina need?
I would like introductions to financial professionals, mental health practitioners, family attorneys (divorce, estates, elder care, etc.), family business members . . . anyone whose business serves families who are experiencing conflict.
Education
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, New York, New York Juris Doctorate (including concentrated studies in estate planning)

Experience
Before becoming a mediator, I had the privilege of working with several highly regarded attorneys in the specialized fields of aviation and maritime accidents. I enjoyed handling complex legal and financial issues pertaining to damages and facilitating multi-million dollar settlements for some of my clients. Prior to this I briefly consulted on commercial law matters for a law firm and served as an Assistant Circuit Executive for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals where I worked on exhibitions on legal history. Additional work was in the areas of employment discrimination, civil rights, and products liability.
