Thank you so much for a great event! I have been pondering this "social media" stuff and how to offer it to my clients in a cohesive format and the info Steve presented really helped me on the way to getting there. Plus, I can use a lot of it for my own business. I'm excited! Are you excited? I'm excited!
Hi Lori,
Loved the event, you always have so much to offer and are so generous with your knowledge. Much appreciated. I met Mitchell at the meeting and he referred me to a woman that needed a web site.
I was going to call her the next day, but she called me soon after I got home from the event! And it looks like I'll do her site.
Wow - instant referral gratification! I will send Mitchell a thank-you note & gift card after posting this :-)
Thanks again Lori.
BTW - your new profile pic is great!
Hi Lori & Steve,
This sounds great. I went to Lori's event today about Referrals and she chatted this event up, so I am really looking forward to it!
Lori is awesome and I checked out Steve's profile and he sounds like he he has a ton of great info on small biz marketing.
Thank you both for arranging this event!
Perfect! Brilliant! This is a fantastic list, thank you for getting it together. I'll be using these resources and passing on your info to other people interested in SEO. Your workshop sounds great, would love to attend one in Seattle, or even better, Bellingham!
Some lucky person can have my space! I won't be able to make this event, but plan on coming to another in the near future.
oh no! An earlier meeting got switched to 2:00 on Monday, so I can't make it either :-(
Will try and make it to the next one.
Thanks Lori
Hooray! This is super fantastic! Thank you for considering it and for making it happen so quickly - you are like lightening!
I didn't even get a chance to post it on the Idea Exchange - was going to do that today after the holiday hubbub. I'll have to think of something else to post there...Gee, do I win a T-shirt?!?!?
Bellingham has a great group, wonderful ambassadors, and I am happy to be a part of it.
Thank you Dan!
Shortly after I joined, (a couple of months ago) I went to the Networking the Biznik Way in Everett and learned a lot about leveraging my Biznik profile to better advantage.
But it was good to go to again and get refreshed, take note of the new features and the ones I missed the first-go-round. And such a wonderful turn-out!
Great info & presentation by Dan & Lara - even tho' they have been doing these info evenings for awhile now, they are still fresh and compelling :-)
AND, soon I shall be starting my campaign for getting Bellingham on the main "List of Cities"!
Am thinking that if our profiles are sorted by participation/activity, shouldn't the List of Cities be too????
Yeeeeeeeeah baby.
oh DUH! Ok, even tho' Guy will NOT be there, I will be there!
So it's ok for me to invite a friend that is not a Biznik member - right? I will send them an invite from the Invite link to make it somewhat official...
Thank you for pulling all these concepts together so well! They are so true!
I've noticed that the more relaxed I am about business and networking, the more fun I have at events and the more clients seem to "magically" appear. And yes, gratitude, patience and sincerity all play a part in having a successful networking experience.
What are some ideas for "freebies"? I abhor useless plastic crap! Would love to hear some ideas for giving something memorable and of value.
Why only 8 spots? This guy sounds like a standing room only speaker! Looking forward to it :-)
Hey, this is a really good article!
I went to your Shameless Bragging in Bellingham and you helped me understand the model for Social Networking much better. You talked about the "weak link" concept and how you are more likely to get business from a friend of a friend than from the actual friend (or network connection).
Like many "free-lancers", I get a lot of my work via referrals. Often when I ask a new client how they heard of me, they'll mention someone that I don't even know, only to find out later it's a friend of a friend, or of a business acquaintance.
The "weak link" concept is so true - I just didn't know that's what it was called, and that I am one too!
I always ask friends for references - and if I call a professional to help me do something and they can't, I ask them if they know someone who can.
Apparently that TV show called the "Weakest Link" had it all wrong, these links seem to be pretty strong :-)
I so enjoy meeting people thru Biznik, I am continually impressed with the quality and sincerity of those I come in contact with.
Gee Lori, you made another great Biznik event happen! You are sooooooooooo good at doing that! Howard was delightful, thank you for getting it together and for sharing your "story" too.
It was great fun - I wish I could have stayed longer! Loved the ideas too. Tshombe, write an article on marketing ideas! and don't forget those tattoos....
I can only stay for a little bit of the meeting - but I will come with a marketing idea! Fun!
Thank you Tshombe & Lori for that fine event! I loved the handouts and the discussion. Felt happy afterwards.
And thanks to EXIT Realty for the handsome conference room and my beautiful new pen!
Hi Caroline,
Good advice on "multi-tasking" while on the phone. Don't do it!
It's fantastically rude and, I think, just adds to the general chaos of our culture. I don't have call waiting - which I think is another completely rude invention. With the very rare exception, there is no need to dump whomever you are talking to in the middle of a conversation to talk to someone else. It creates a lingering and yucky energy and I probably won't want to talk to you again.
I like being treated kindly and with attention, and it's how I like to treat others. It's so much more productive, isn't it?
What fun! I've used similar pretend techinques to become better at things I want to do - and visualization of myself doing it as well. Amazing how well it works. But I love your Betty & Bogie take on it - what a great idea! And great Working Solutions advice as well. Thanks for the great article.
