  • Hi John, I know exactly what you mean. I have a networking group of healing practitioners who want to grow their businesses. I regularly invite speakers and it's working out great. The more value the speakers add, the better the following.

  • Kaya, All true! So often we can find the reasons NOT to do what it takes to get to where we want to go. Part of the hold back for some people is that they might not really know where they want to be in their business. It's hard moving forward if you don't know where you're going.

  • Taylor, Thanks for the tips. Yesterday at my networking event I asked people to do just what you suggested... answer the question "what do they need". It was great to see the interaction that resulted when someone could follow through with a recommendation on a resource for each person. Yes, we're building relationships. That's what it's all about.

  • Hi Kaya, It helps me to hear your message again. I have found that the short time I spent with you speaking about this very important concept is changing the way I do business and the way I present myself to others. There's nothing like clarity, right?

  • I had a great time and learned a lot! What a wonderful group. Kaya, you truly have a gift to share. After our meeting I went to your website and downloaded your recommendations for marketing and setting forth a plan. I have to say that I was truly inspired to the point of epiphany. Look forward to new things coming as a result!

  • I hear ya! I devoted a few years to the old rigid networking groups and discovered that they benefit the leads company often times more than they benefit the members. I will admit that I built relationships with some wonderful people. However, more often than not, people really couldn't connect with what I did in the natural healing world. Maybe it wasn't the fit for me. Problem solved. First I found that there were other ways to network... like BizNik and Meetup, where we could meet online and face to face. Then I decided to create my own friendly networking group without the rules and membership fees. It may be evolving into more pretty soon. I'm very excited. Would you like to see what we're up to here in Portland? http://www.meetup.com/Natural-Healing-Group/

  • Tim, As I look at all my biz cards that I have accumulated and organized to death over the years... maybe I'm a slow learner... I need a scanner and a management system. I'd love some advice. Can one use a scanner without the management system?

  • Ken, I'm taking your advice to heart. I have collected many email addresses and send emails to nearly 500 people. The title is really important, as you said, so I've recently made the change and am targeting specific markets. All this is a new direction for me, so I'll let you know how it goes!

  • Judy, I'll add to the chorus of many thanks to you! I have written a newsletter for 2 years with varying success. There's always so much to say... but HOW to say it and get the attention of the readers to that they can get what they want and need is so important! On reflection I can see how writing the valuable info that I speak all day could make the newsletter uniquely my own.
