My friend from Italy, Anna, has a dream of getting a White Belt in Nia. www.nianow.com
Anna had never been exposed to Nia before she joined my sister Blythe and I at our White Belt celebration class. Anna was very moved by her introduction to Nia and said she felt like it was really "a completion for me, Not so studied like yoga, but I enjoyed the dance very much, the feeling of freedom. I really felt good! We don't have this in Italy. What to do?"
Anna would like very much to take the five-day intensive class and receive her White Belt so that she can take Nia home to Italy and teach others. Two challenges stand in her way:
1) the $1599 cost is daunting as she and her family live part of the year in an Indian ashram and the rest in super rural Italy outside of Rome. This could be resolved by staying longer in the States to earn more funds (her husband, Johnny, waits tables at Tony Mandola's). But, alas
2) Anna's visa runs out beginning of October, which is not enough time to generate the additional income without compromising their travel plans back to Italy.
While making dinner (an amazing eggplant dish) Anna asked again, "what to do?". The answer was right in front of us! Anna and I got creative, inspired by eating eggplant together nearly every day since it came into season, and together wrote an Italian eggplant e-CookBook as a fundraiser.
This book especially fun because it tells a our story of near instantaneous best friendship, as well as making a daunting vegetable not only super easy but also super delicious.
