What Sara does

Provide massages tailored to fit what you need by integrating Swedish massage, Polarity Therapy, Hawaiian massage and treatment techniques as needed to release tension and bring about overall relaxation.

What Sara does best

Head and neck massage are my very favorite. I use continuous, fluid movements to gently "unwind" the neck and remind both neck, shoulders and hips of their full range of motion.

What does Sara need?

Advice on advertising in the city. In Bellingham it made sense to have an ad in the yellow pages and I was able to have a sandwichboard sign out by the street, and lots of people found me just due to my location. My new place is nice on the inside, but doesn't invite that kind of wandering, and I'm pretty sure a phone book ad wouldn't be worth it here. Ideas? (Thanks!)

Education

Massage training: Brenneke School of Massage in Seattle, August 2001 (now a Cortiva Institute)

Other education: BA from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University in Bellingham, June 2006 - self designed major in "Language, Culture and Healing"

Experience

I've worked in a few spas and salons, but most of my massage has been done in my own practice - over six years in Bellingham and now here in Seattle.

My favorite experience with massage outside of my own practice was going along with my dad's running group (the Cardio Junkies of Sandpoint, Idaho) as the team's massage therapist for "the longest relay race on the North American continent." The Americana Relay only lasted a couple years, but it involved going over the Kootenay Skyway, Canada's highest mountain pass, and down into Northern Idaho. It was about 36 hours of sweaty, happy runners, sleep deprived giggling, pacing runners while blaring "Eye of the Tiger" out the window of a minivan, and pulling out the massage table at spots all along the road. I really loved being a part of it all, and getting to check in with each runner about his or her body along the way.
