What Sarah does best
I went into the architecture profession because I wanted to affect positive social and environmental change.
The construction industry is responsible for over 40% of all extracted materials and produces 1/3 of our landfill waste. Buildings are responsible for almost half (48%) of all greenhouse gas emissions annually. Seventy-six percent of all electricity generated by US power plants goes to supply the building sector. We must do better.
Using good design and proven technologies we can drastically reduce our ecological footprint while creating spaces that are aesthically pleasing and support occupant health and well-being.
I achieved LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council by demonstrating a good working knowledge of sustainable building design and technology. Topics mastered include sustainable sites, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, materials and resources, energy and atmosphere, and design and innovation.
