I split my time between two very different fields of work, promotional marketing and nonprofit management. I've created a "what I do" for each of these areas.
Promotional Marketing :
Beginning in 2000, I cut my chops working for 107.7 The End as a "modulator," a promotional and event marketing rep for the popular radio station. I was hired to embody the young, hip, branded image of the radio station in front of hundreds of thousands of music-listeners.
I executed in-store events, guerrilla marketing campaigns, tabled large concerts, and learned the ins and outs of promotional marketing. Since 2000, I've split my time working on presidential campaigns, nonprofits and promotional marketing, managing campaigns for large corporations. My clients have included Yahoo!, Expedia.com, AARP, the Seattle Space Needle, Showtime's "Weeds," EA Sports, Dry Soda, Dr. Pepper, AOL, and many others. I believe it's the personal touch of promotional marketing--actually meeting someone from that company--that creates an emotional connection between customers and your brand. Essentially, that when you love their people, you love their brand. Born and raised in Washington State, I'm intimately aware of this market's nuances and niches.
Nonprofit World :
I am founder and executive director of Knowledge As Power, a 501c3 non-profit based in Seattle, Washington. We're developing a unique, scaleable service for citizens to track legislative information on any topic, and communicate with their legislators. We do it all with non-partisan, no spin information; you won't find us doing advocacy.
I write grants, organize volunteers, manage staff, do outreach, plan marketing, do accounting, and generally, conduct reserach studies, and am (generally) the brains of the organization. I speak at conferences about the importance of digital pairity, and how we're working with governments to achieve this.
When I'm not working for free (someone, give us a grant!), I manage promotions campaigns in the Seattle & Western Washington market for small to very large corporations. You need a street team ASAP? I can do that and make you look good.
I also advise non-profits and campaigns about how to get the biggest bang for their buck when planning technology online and in the office.
