How to charge for PR/writing

As a full-time journalist, I never had this problem before. But now I'm launching my freelance career and people ask me how much I charge and I'm at a loss.

I guess general writing projects could just be $$/hour. But what about PR? How do you charge for work that may or may not produce results for the client?

Also, any ideas of where to look for clients who need general writing help? Any advise would be appreciated!

Hi, everyone - I'm a journalist and a co-owner of a coworking space in SF. Just had a great conversation with Dan - it looks like we'll be working together in the future!

Biznik looks awesome - more SF people should know about it! I'm glad I stumbled onto it. I also like the name - it's like beatnik, sputnik, etc.

I just opened a coworking space in SF called Sandbox Suites.

We've got hot desks, private pods, meeting rooms, a great lounge (2 actually), and espresso service.

Since our soft opening a few days ago, we've got a few diverse members - a writer, a web person, and an executive coach. So, please come by and check us out - you can try Sandbox for free as a beta member through Oct. 1.
