  • since we live on an island...

I think since we live on an island and we have the barrier of the ferry ride, we think about our work differently. I know I am grateful that I have a business that is all digital. I do not need to leave the comfort of my computer screen. Since we live on an island are we leading a new trend for how business is conducted. With the change in economy will everybody in business be much more selective about their face to face meetings or need to work in a group.

  • Where Great Ideas Come From

What do you do when you want to come up with a great idea or solution? Do you go to a special environment like a noisy coffee shop or quiet woods? Is your thought process regimented or relaxed? Do you record your idea with crayons or a keyboard?

The sewing machine was invented from a dream. The light bulb came from laborious testing. Post-it notes were basically a mistake. Velcro was invented by a mountaineer who picked burrs off his socks after a walk in the field.

When you need to develop a better idea or solution how do you do it -- what is your process?

  • Solution Partner Wanted -- Collaboration Equals Better Ideas.

I am tired of trying to think of great ideas all by myself. I think collaboration is much better for many reasons. If you have any question about the value of collaboration, you should check out Kare Anderson’s articles and blog (she is a Biznik member). With this in mind, I would like to promote the idea of a Solution Partner. Here is how I think it would work.

Right now, I am grappling with ideas about branding and marketing message. I would like to meet someone who is dealing with the same issues. We would meet by phone and e-mail a couple of times a week, or even daily, to discuss our work, provide feedback, and share research. This could last for days or even a few weeks. When we have resolved our business questions to our satisfaction, we finish the collaboration.

To refine the idea a little more, I imagine we could have an initial telephone interview to see if we are grappling with the same questions. This interview would give us a feel for the relationship to see if there is some synergy.

By the way, you do not need collaborate just with me. There are thousands of Biznik members here, many dealing with the same questions of business development.

How about it -- any takers?

You may like to place comments here developing the idea of a Solution Partner. How do you choose the right partner? What if the relationship gets to be one-sided and one person is doing all the work? Is it better to talk by phone or e-mail? There are lots of great issues here.

  • Making a personal connection through your website

How do you use a website to make a personal connection? You have developed a great website. Your branding is right on and you have compelling text. Your call to action provides a great value with no risk to your potential customer. Your web statistics are climbing each day so you know people are viewing your site. But no one calls. You need to convert the impersonal traffic at your website to a personal connection by phone or face to face. How do you convert a "website viewer" to a personal connection?

  • The Price of Corporate Training

What should I charge for corporate training these days? My corporate training experience is about 10 years out of date and I could use some advice on, marketing, proposals, pricing, etc. I have developed a two-hour workshop titled Stress Relief Training. (I consider it a compliment when people yawn in my workshop.) There is a tremendous need for this training. 85% of all illness is caused by stress. While some stress improves performance, chronic stress severely degrades performance and erodes creativity. I imagine that just about every corporation in the greater Seattle area needs Stress Relief Training, but my phone is not ringing off the hook.

Thanks in advance for your help,

  • Stress Relief Training

    Hello everyone,

I have been making a few contacts here on Biznik, went to one event, and even wrote a Tip. Now I am ready to say hello to the community.

The map on my profile points to Seattle, which is where my office is; I actually live on Vashon Island. Living on an island, I do most of my work by Internet and telephone. Biznik is the ideal way for me to stay in contact with a business community.

My passion is Stress Relief and I have developed a training program based upon my years of eclectic study and research on this subject. My exploration has even led me to India several times to study and meditate.

I look forward to meeting many of you through our network here. Send me an e-mail or call I would enjoy talking with you.

  • browser back button starts over at page 1

Frustrating! I step through several pages using the next button, then I click on a post I am interested in reading, when I hit the browser back button it takes me right to page number 1 rather than the page I was last on. And then I have to step through the pages and try to remember where I was. This seems to happen everywhere --.biz Talk, Events, etc.
