What Shana does best
In all written forms of communication, it is essential to remember that the first purpose of language is to communicate. If the reader cannot understand what the author is trying to say, what's the point?
I pride myself on ensuring that the author's message is translated to paper clearly. By helping the author fully develop his or her ideas with crisp, lucid language, I make certain that the reader will fully comprehend the ideas of the book, company missive, or any other publication.
Education
Whitman College - Bachelor of Arts in English
University of Washington - Certificate in Editing
Experience
Over the past year and a half, I have done a great deal of work with Coachbuilt Press, a publishing house in Philadelphia specializing in books about spectacular classic cars. To date, I have been involved in The Art and Colour of General Motors; Curves of Steel: Streamlined Automobile Design at Phoenix Art Museum; and the forthcoming French Curves in the Peter Mullin Automotive Museum Foundation.
Locally, I often work with Sasquatch Books and am delighted to have been involved in their upcoming books Closet Confidential: Style Lessons Learned the Hard Way and Good Drinks for Bad Days: Holiday Edition.
In my capacity as Web Content Editor with the AANMC, my focus is online editing; I am responsible for maintaining the association's Web site, www.aanmc.org, editing and proofreading all material posted to the site.
I also work with advertising material. I was responsible for the rebranding of the Cedarbrook Center Web site after the WAMU collapse and for the copyedit during a renovation of the Talaris Conference Center Web site. Both of these properties are run by Columbia Hospitality.
