    What are "Hive meetings"

And why don't I have access to them?

  • Take Care of Yourself!

As solo-business people, our businesses can sometimes "run us."

It's said over and over "Take time to do some self-care"

So I am saying it again:

Take care of yourself! Eat healthy. Stretch. Do your workouts. Get some bodywork to work out the aches and pains.

As a bodyworker, it's a part of my mission to remind people that neglect will only make things worse.

I have a 20 minutes-for-free deal so you can try my massage out. 206-465-6344, or send me a note over the biznik message system.

If massage is not your thing - call your favorite healer. Do something for your body, mind or spirit, that you KNOW you have neglected.

Take care of yourself and prevent problems before they happen.

  • I tell you sometimes you just have to take one day

and just shut out the world.

I had a great biznik event earlier this morning.

It was more productive (i wonder) than 2-3 of my happy hours combined. yar!

Anyway! I tell you I just got a consult from Amy Woidkey (sorry if I spell that wrong, darlin') and I have this chunk of hours in front of me. I have decided for the next 4 hours or so, I will be starting on the reform of my space.

There are times when the most productive thing you can do is really shut out the world. don't answer calls. don't look at emails. like period, no looing. drop the phone in the toilet -it's off.

    And go to work.

Deep focused productivity begets light and airy superficial productivity as well. All areas of life improve and smooth operation becomes the truth in every moment, regardless of the activity or situation.

    Deep focus = deep peace.

  • The life of an event - a request for some online masterminding

Like the times of the Liberty and the mc cloud residence for Dan n Lara's regular happy hours had a pique and an end...

So too have I seen the pique, decline and end to the happy hours I started in '06.

And now, I am also seeing an end in sight to my happy hours @ Vermillion.

I do not know if it's the timing, over-use of location, my event description, all of the above or none of the above.

One thing I do know.... numbers talk.

I want to have a new venue. I would like to do happy hours but I think it's time for a shift away from heavily populated social events with alcohol - to heavily populated social events without the need for a bar/alcohol.

Truth seems that it's both a draw and a repellent for business networkers to be in bars and such for social networking.

Information and education is a draw... but what about the draw of a Happy Hour? Is it the party-like atmosphere? the open forum for mixing? Is it location? Is it the booze?

How can you create a really bloody fun "happy hour" where people are relaxed and happy, networking like crazy, having a great time enough to draw a large crowd.... without the alcohol?

It's those dark bars. They get to me after a while. And while I like to drink... it would be nice to have other options. Not to mention, that for some years now, it's been on my conscience to be a "healing massage therapist" while also hosting happy hours.

I would like some new options and ideas for events that would have the same "atmosphere" as, but be an alternative to happy hours.

but they have to be fun.

    attract a good crowd.

And people have to feel relaxed and easy too....

    help.

  • Events on my group's posting board

I have the happy hour group and I want to have all the happy hours on biznik (any city) to be listed on the events calendar of the group.

How do y'all suppose I should go about doing this?

  • The H-word: "Don't call me a healer, I don't "fix anybody."

So! One of the other discussions Lorayne brings up a great point. She says "I recognize that I do not heal anyone. The clients heal themselves; I merely provide insight"

    IT comes out!

The use of the word Noun "HEaler" is not ideal.

I totally get that. We all facilitate healing. That's very different from going in to a session and thinking you can "fix" another person's body.

I think any healing that occurs is a function of systems coming alive in the body of the receiver, inspired by the work we do with them.

ah. I already love this group!

  • Meet me at Vermillion!

    Hello Bizniks!

Sierra here, one of the many cool hosts on this crazy good site.

I am posting this to get you all interested in coming out and having a good happy hour time with me on the 26th of this month - February of the '09.

This will be a special one for me, since I will be coming back to network after a long recovery from some intense surgery.

As a healer type - this may or may not be the best resume point for me but I tell you, I have an intimate idea on how to do injury treatment massage on scar tissue from surgery in the abdomen now.

Shameless brag? Hardly - mostly a tickle to the machine: come to the happy hour, that's my point.

Lets celebrate our ability to be alive and working at all.

Networking for and running your own business is like eating cake that not everyone gets to eat.

I would love to see you there.

  • Hello to Portland, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, New York, Vancouver and all the other cities that are too abundant to name

I have had the fantastic idea to do an event in another biznik city.

    I cannot do this alone!

I have to create a buzz, I need to make some connections.

I would do best to have some collaboration with people who live in these other cities and want to help me with promotion, finding a venue and co-hosting the event.

I also would like to give promotional massages to people interested in my work. I am excited and interested in growing my clientele in other cities as well as having biznik events and networks in other cities.

Please contact me if you are interested in working with me.

Leave a post and show what you might be interested in doing with me.

I think I have a knack for making small business networking community grow and flourish with biznik events. I would really like to spread the love.

    All ideas and comments welcome.

This idea really excites me and I would be so grateful to anyone who stepped up to help me out.

  • event photos of shameless bragging are actually of the austin cantina event

the current pictures that are black and white and blurry that are on the event page right now are not from the shameless bragging event.

They were taken at the Austin Cantina.

It would be nice for people to know this huge difference and put the credit of a cool-looking mingle to the proper event.

    thanks!

  • Contribution Buzz - Enter your advice #here#

So I'm holding a Contribution Networking event on the biznik event boards and I need some help from all you smart savvy people.

My co-host (Jacob Caldwell) and I have some good ideas of what we want out of this event but I'm just not satisfied with our level of experience and understanding of how to get what we want.

What I want to get out of this event is this:

people really listening to each other
people really stretching their brains on how to help the people they are listening to.
    * I want people to walk away from this going "holy cow on a stick! that was the most productive networking I've ever done!"

What I'm thinking is that these goals can be accomplished more by how the time is structured, rules and guidelines, instruction, questions to ask etc.

I would really like to know what YOU think I could do to "add to", create space for, entice, suggest or direct attendees to really go deep into their abilities to help others out.

What things would you tell/suggest people to do in order to get the results I have listed above?

(opinions that I'm "fighting a losing battle" or "crazy to think I could get the results I want", also welcome - every bit of opinion and advice helps me create the best results)

Feedback is, by the way, is the only way we can understand and know how to correct mistakes and get better... even if it makes us cry.

    Yes. It's true.

    I'm 29 now.

    Dan, Lara... What's biznik's birthday?

Think we should celebrate it at some point?

  • North Seattle People! Come out and pretend there's Sunshine!

Ok! Shameless promotion of my Ellersick Brewing Co. happy hour event today:

If you're in the north end or passing thru Lynnwood on your way home... see if you can find your way to this fabulous Brewing Company to hang out with me and catch a good beer.

It's an event on the biznik calendar for today from 430 to 8. Come, relax, have a raspberry beer, and I promise I won't bite... hard...

    :)

  • blackberry biznik emailing

I was wondering if there might be any way to make biznik emails easier to answer on my blackberry

I just got a blackberry pearl and I'm answering emails at the speed of light (at least compared to my past track record)

now the biznik messages I want to answer wait until I make the time to sit in front of my computer

otherwise I have to go to the biznik site on my phone and wade thru lots of page-type info and it's a long process to do biznik messaging on my phone.

might there be a project in the works to make biznik a more blackberry-friendly site - especially the message aspects of biznik?

  • Discussion group on GOD and business

There was a recent thread of "the Bible and YOur business" in the biz talk forum.

I decided to start a discussion group about business and god in business as a biznik event. It would be july 14th and to be honest, I don't know if it will be published but I think it has a good chance.

I am starting a thread to boost some interest in the event as well as get some opinions started about what people think of the role of "a higher power" in their business.

All opinions welcome. I like to hear all takes on this issue because I think every one is probably a little bit right, but that's me.
