  • LMPs - this is for you!

Check out my support group on the event calendar. I know that lots of you schedule yourselves like 3 months in advance so I posted the event to be in August.

Please consider coming to the group and sharing space with us.

Also - Anyone who wants to connect for a massage trade - I would like that - deep, therapeutic, sweedish/classic or cranio-sacral massage preferred.

AND - one more thing- I want to connect with you to hear your stories. I also want to connect with newer or "inexperienced" Massage therapists to see how you are and see if you are interested in having a conversation about the whole massage as a career experience.
I would love to talk your ear off about massage, the industry, my soapboxes, bodywork stories, continuing eduation, spa work, clinical work, subletting, contract work, working with chiropractors, insurance billing vs cash business - the works.

    Let's have tea and chat!

  • My Day Office VS. Office Nomads

I was hoping to get some people to speak of their experiences of these two places.

What the pros and cons are of each place? How's the pricing for what you get?

What have been your personal experiences and impressions of them?

AND - are there other places like them in the city or outside of the city?

  • OMG I'm Friggin' drownin' here!

DUUUUUDDEEEE!!! is anyone out there feelin' me when I say... "DEAR GOD THERE'S so much STUFF on the biznik site that I want to just ... turn off my monitor and run away!!!"

It's probably just me but man, I get seriously overwhelmed with all the things going on and all the stuff and stuff and stuff to do and talk about and read and learn...

sniffle I'm so like... "how the heck do I make the most of this for myself and stop getting overwhelmed with all these possible outlets?" I just start to think there's just too much and I want to give up or run away.

is this the time to really start turning on the freek light? like the glbt gal and her obvious openness attracting people to her light.

maybe this is an overall fear of people thing. or an archaic computer phobe thing. fear of success, fear of failure. if you know me well or if you don't - give it to me strait: what's going on with this "runandhide" thing and what do you suggest i do to get over it?

or should I just start talking about my massage knowledge and experience with injury treatment or post classes and workshops and have myself on the event calendar like 2 to 5 times in a given moment? sheesh!

  • Biznik networking that doesn't suck?

It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

I am posting this because its interesting to feel both liberated and feeling the need to conform at the same time.

I enjoy the benefits of biznik. I like alot about it. It's my homies, home, yo.

I guess I wonder about feeling free to express myself and my opinions even if they might not be in the best light of the way the site is run. It is just not ok to say "hey this doesn't agree with me" unless I have sugar and whip cream sprinkled on top?

Maybe I'm just too much of a rebel as well as a submissive conformist but I feel like there should be some way to have some kind of free-for-all or roast that doesn't get taken personally or like a slander so much. I dunno - maybe it's because the focus is business and we need to keep it there...

But it seems to me - as the law of attraction states - what you put your attention on grows and it seems like alot of attention goes to conducting oneself in a "proper" manner on this site. I notice it creating this mostly unspoken undercurrent of grumbling and resentment while putting up a facade of "yes I follow the code, do you follow the code, yes you do, we follow the code"

Maybe it's just me but it seems the more you try to control this wilde human spirit to "rock the boat" and change - the more that muther f@#ker's gonna get rock n' rolled. I mean, wasn't biznik started to get out of old conformities? It has done it and now I see it being a conformed place that makes one muse "Gosh, let's create something less conforming, coded and be-on-your-best-behavior."

There's a place for everything. I would think burners could appreciate the need to expand their own levels of conformitism.

(with whip cream and sugar on top... maybe even a sweet and juicy fat purple cherry)

  • I think we need to take ourselves a bit less seriously...

I think with all the networking happy hours that usually go on in the events calendar (mine included) that we are all bordering on becoming more alcoholics than becoming small business networkers.

    But What the heck!

So I started this topic to get some ideas going about how to make this event really good for my business as well as an event that just chills people out so they can take life a little less seriously.

I would really love some feedback on these things:

*what day of the week would be best

    *what month would be best

*should I do open house for a day or have a set time that peeps show up? (my office can comfortably seat 12 people.)

    • what sort of massage deal should I offer if people show up and visit with me and sample some wines

*should I just have sampling wines or cheep stuff too to fill in the gaps and keep the cups full?

*any other suggestions/ways this event could boost my business and get more clients/opportunities to flood in

This wine social is designed to say thanks to clients, sample great wines as well as showcase my fine massage office digs to those who have not been here and may have been hesitant to book a massage with me due to the unknown. Besides - it would be nice to say a nice hello again to contacts and fellow business peeps as well as mingle together friends, clients, and fellow bodyworkers.

    thanks for all your help!

  • Does anyone but me get intimidated by online presence?

It seems like y'all get so "out there" and talking and commenting online. I get so intimidated by the whole thing! I need to know that there are some of you out there that really want to post comments and events and blogs and free ads and join groups but you sorta chicken out and just read. (this time, I want you to comment even if you normally chicken out) I need to also get some advice from you hot-shots that smear your posting happiness all over the place and tell me how you have the balls to do it while I just chicken out so much. are y'all just fearless? or am I just chicken? I am pretty sure I might just be (just might be) hindering my business by this online-presence fear and I need to get some support on this one. help me out guys! I need to grow big brass ones!

  • :( scheduling sadness for the ALT crew

Man! This sucks: The Spitfire has informed me that Monday the 19th will not be available for the networking I posted. They've got another thing going on that will totally pack the place. Bummer for us. So... Consider joining me next month on April the 23rd where we will be enjoying the wares of "makers of things"

I encourage biz owners that sell/make: Toys Clothes, Accessories Lingerie Accoutrements Corsets Glass art Leather and metal art Jewelry

Or any other neat-o products that can be put on display to show and tell.

  • Wine Social/open house@ Massage Freek... the office on Broadway

Friday, February 29th I'm hostessing a wine social and open house at my office. Come and see Massage Freek's Professional digs. Gwen Williams will help me redesign the place to be a comfortable place for people to come in, relax and check it out for a minute or an hour or more.
It will be going on from: 1pm to 10pm or later...

It's an open house sort of deal so just drop by if you are so inclined!
Bring a bottle of wine or a snack or nothing at all and come in to say "hey!"
