What Steven does
I'm a master of lighting and camera work for moving images in all formats, from 35mm film to the latest High Definition media. I've also been shooting stereoscopic 3D video for Stereomedia since 1990. The 3D work has always been out of state, mainly in LA, (even toured with KISS doing it) it seems to be a bit too far out and high tech for companies around here?
I love helping people figure out what they need to make their video projects happen, and how to get it up and running. Currently I teach film production part time at Seattle Film Institute .
My latest venture works with your organization's employees or volunteers to build teams and create connections by producing a video in just a few hours. Added Benefit? Your group has a video they can use for marketing or training and post to your website right away!
What Steven does best
I'm really good at distilling and explaining media technology to others.
What does Steven need?
Looking for collaborators on 3D videos.
Education
University of Southern California, School of Cinema, BA in Cinema Television Production
Experience
25 years on the bleeding edges of high end video production. I worked on really early projects in Kiosk based e-commerce, using touch screens, videodiscs, and custom CPM computers. I've shot and or produced videos for NASA, US Navy, Northrop, Microsoft, Siemens, Boston Scientific, UW, Fluke, Vivendi Games, General Electric, IBM, and on and on.
I've worked on 3D Stereoscopic Video for the following clients for Stereomedia: Cirque Du Soleil, Hennesy, the '98 KISS tour, Kennedy Space Center, among others.
I've shot one 35mm Feature Film, FLO$$, for a local seattle producer, William Hoisington, which still awaits wide distribution.
Several years ago I started working in Higher Ed, and for three and a half years I was the Director of the School of Film and Visual Effects at Collins College, (http://www.collinscollege.edu) in Tempe Arizona. This was a new program and I shepherded it to become the best program of its kind in the region. While there I oversaw the construction of a new 26k sq ft facility with two sound stages, and a 180 seat digital theatre. The stages were the most best in the state, better than anything available there for professional use.
Many of our students there have already gone on to work on everything from national commercial spots and large hollywood feature films within weeks of graduating, sometimes before graduating; I'm really proud of them.
Now I'm back in Seattle though, because, well I love it here so much, and I missed my friends.
I'm now teaching at the Seattle Film Institute. I also rebuilt their website for them, using Drupal (Did this for Stereomedia too). I'm no Drupal guru though, I'm still stumbling along through it.
Howard Gutknecht and I have started a new venture called Vidteams. Our team building workshops bring your people together to produce a video. In the process they build their collaborative skills in a fun way that can result in attention attracting videos you useful for your website.
