Unfortunately, I think the outcome of do-it-yourself copywriting or whatever it is (web site building, home improvement, logo designing, etc.) looks exactly like that, do-it-yourself. People need to pick priorities and choose the things carefully they need to hire a professional for.

But unfortunately, in the real world, people are going to judge to boost their own egos. So why not put your best foot forward?

Great article. Video has great impact. I especially love video demonstrations when you can't figure out something. "Show, don't tell" is a great rule and way more effective!

Thank you all for your great comments. I have enjoyed reading them. Maybe business school should include a class called First Impressions or something. It could include table manners, social graces and personal presentation.

"Bat in the cave." So funny. I know, some things just happen. Poor thing.

Thanks! With all the hard work people put in, and great articles on Biznik, I hate for people to forget the obvious. Glad you liked.

Great article. I think I will now tell people I charge like a plumber. People can relate to this. I charge for parts and labor. And I have a minimum. Final product is one fee and time it takes me to do it another fee and if we meet it's a minimum of X. And they always get an estimate before I start work. Seems fair and simple.

I think it is great to dream big and also try things. I am currently writing a book on experiencing 50 jobs in 50 weeks (the goal). People may think they will like something, but until they actually try it or at least experience that environment they won't really know. Taking the leap and actually trying things before entering a big commitment is key, I think. See my blog at: www.50jobsin50weeks.blogspot.com

We will be running this event again probably next month for anyone who we couldn't fit in this time. We can only allow 5 at a time so as not to overwhelm the restaurant and in order to give everyone personal attention.
