I can't wait to join the GroupMind!
Debbie -
Great article with some really timely points! I have found that many small business owners don't take the time to look deeply at 'organizational management/development' theories or strategies, but they sure are useful! Thanks for sharing one of the most important (succession planning). I love the idea of a check-list too! I'll keep checking back to see the follow-up.
Thanks again - fantastic points! -Sylvia
I'm so bummed I have to cancel! I'm looking forward to making the one in December though (it's so far away!!).
Elizabeth, Thanks for such a timely article. I don't think we can hear enough that 'this too shall pass' and that there are ways to get through it that are easier, more fullfilling and make change (or transition) less overwhelming.
Another of my favorite books on transition, that I've used a lot (first when I moved back from living in Italy, then when I went from corporate worker-bee to freelance) is Williams Bridges, "Transitions". He reminds us that everything starts with an ending and then we're in the middle and then the beginning again.
Thanks also for highlighting that we all need connection. Reaching out for support, not having to go through it alone (and that we are only alone if we choose it) is something to keep top of mind.
Cheers, Sylvia www.theintentionalway.com
Fantastic article Dike! Well said. This is exactly the direction I have to take a lot of my clients. The reason problems are mounting and they are overwhelmed is because they have taken on solving all of the problems/challenges themselves instead of empowering their teams to do so. This article was a great reminder for small biz owners as well (being THE leaders in their biz) that asking for help from their support Team (its one of the first things I help my cleints set-up) is not being weak - its being smart!
Thanks again for posting this! -Sylvia www.theintentionalway.com
Thanks to everyone for coming and bringing your insights and energy. I always wish we had more time with this one!
Happy to have you coming over Terence. I love what you bring to the mix (your wisdom and insight!).
I'm so disappointed that I won't be able to make this. The discussion last time lead to a great connection (Debra) and an increase in my awareness of how much I actually DO use my intuition (as do my clients who are leaders). My gut said I had something planned. I didn't listen and now I remembered that I had this conflict and have to cancel. It would have saved me time and energy to just have listened to my intuition before I made the decision! Have fun and let me know when you do the next one!
I am so bummed I have to cancel :-(... I have a big event on Saturday and I have a meeting I have to go to at the time so all the presenters are on the same page... i am so sorry.
But here is the name of the book I was going to bring: Gut: How to Think From Your Middle to Get to the Top - Karen Salmansohn
Hope everyone has fund and you do this again! -Sylvia
I have a real 'feeling' this will be a great event... ;-)
Hi Andrew - Looking forward to this. I'll bring one of my favorite books that I use constantly to remind myself as a business owner, now more than ever, I need to listen to my gut (not the media). Thanks for posting such an interesting topic for all of us to talk about.
BTW- the comment above about co-hosting was NOT for this event, but in the sense of looking forward to co-hosting with you in GENERAL, in the sense of co-hosting some event in the future. I don't know enough about money to co-host! ;-p Just so we're clear! Thanks!
"I can't do what I love and make money."
NOW there is something I hear alot (and sometimes in my own head).
Thanks for the book recommendations! Looking forward to 'co-hosting' with you...
Hi Kate - I would LOVE to come to this, but have a conflict. If you are going to do this in Seattle (I'm in West Seattle) please let me know - I'll be there. I'd love to support other coaches and collaborate rather than compete. Cheers, Sylvia
THis was a GREAT event in Seattle. Ditto on what Leta says above (I didn't want to leave).
I would love to go to another one to keep the conversation going, but Bothell and the timing are not a match for me this go round.
Please keep me posted on the next Seattle/west side meeting and I'll try to make it. My intuition says it's in the works!
Cheers, Sylvia
Hi Andrew!
Thanks for a great, and thoughtful article. As leaders in our businesses, and business leaders in general, we have to deal with rejection daily (clients, vendors, team members, family members), it's a good thing to keep in mind - it's not personal! At least not most of the time. Your categories are a really helpful place for people to start if they have a hard time moving on from rejection (in whatever form it arrives).
What's also interesting is what people fail to do because they fear rejection (I inlcude myself in that group so no pot is calling any kettle black!). So much greatness awaits us all when we can get a bit more proactive and preventative when it comes to rejection/failure (since so many people equate the two).
Would love to know your thoughts on that coorelation sometime!
Thanks again for poetic and well thought out words!
Sylvia
If it's ok, I'll drop by (I know it says it full, but I can't not go to an event with you and Leta). :-)
Andrew - keep following what you love (as the pot calls the Kettle black!)! This Intuition stuff has power and the group last night was so full of energy and fun. Great facilitating!
To everyone who attended last night - that was grand and I'd love to do it again. Amazing people, all of you! I'd love to explore the connections more seeing as we were all called to come together (retreats, healing, cruises, deja-vu).
Cheers, Sylvia
Really looking forward to this. I was just asking the Universe for help in developing my intuition... seems it is conspiring for me to succeed!
I can't believe I missed my opportunity again! Looking forward to the next one!
